  • Soy-based PureBond adhesive is formaldehyde-free
  • Hardwood plywood strength, performance and durability
  • Easily create lasting, beautiful furniture, cabinets and more
Veneered construction gives these decorative PureBond Birch Plywood Project Panels the strength, flatness and rigidity to satisfy the most discerning craftsman. Each 7-ply sheet is assembled with a soy-based PureBond technology to fortify its structural integrity, with the added benefit of being formaldehyde-free so it wills not off-gas toxic fumes over time as UF-constructed plywood is known to do. The decorative veneers are precision-cut from domestically grown, sustainably harvested birch trees, producing visually alluring wood grains on the face and back of the panel that exhibit the warmth, beauty and timeless quality of natural hardwood. Featuring real timber throughout, the core veneer consists of natural yellow poplar substrate laid in alternating cross bands for utmost stability and ruggedness. It's a cost-competitive alternative to urea formaldehyde-laden plywood and will not contribute to air-quality degradation like composite panels. For extraordinary results on your next carpentry or woodworking project, add this 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. panel to your arsenal for construction of cabinets, entertainment centers, wall panels, coffee tables, bookcases, toy chests, benches, desks, shelves and more. The decorative veneers have a smooth finish that allows painting or staining to make it uniquely yours.
  • 7-ply sheet is assembled with smooth, patch-free birch veneers
  • PureBond hardwood plywood is an environmentally friendly, cost-competitive alternative to panels manufactured with urea formaldehyde (UF), which may degrade air quality over time
  • Contains 100% natural wood bonded with a food-grade soy-based adhesive that does not emit toxic air contaminants
  • Decorative top and bottom veneers, measuring approximately 1/42 in. thick, exhibit the beauty and timeless quality of natural hardwood and are suitable for painting or staining
  • Water-resistant composition has a higher moisture tolerance than UF panels and is less likely to warp than solid wood
  • Allow panel to acclimate to interior climate conditions for several days before customizing - for interior applications only
  • For best cutting results, use an 80-tooth (or greater) table saw blade intended for sheet goods or a carbide-tipped circular saw plywood blade
  • Common: 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.; Actual: 0.703 in. x 48 in. x 96 in.
  • Direction of the grain is the length of panel
  • Each panel weighs approximately 70 lbs.
  • Grade: C-3 - see grading guide for additional information
  • Available in additional species- maple and red oak

Is Baltic birch plywood different than the birch plywood listed? If so, what is the difference? Thanks, johnv

Asked by: johnv
¾” PureBond Birch is 7 ply and ¾” Baltic will have 13. Depending on the grade of the Baltic Birch – you may have football shaped wood patches in one side of the panel

what is the exterior hardwood veneer thickness?

pictures provided make the hardwood outer veneer look extremely thin. What is the thickness of the exterior veneer. BTW ... that's a pretty basic piece of information for plywood. You really ought to provide it as a rule.
Asked by: Brokenstriker
The veneer thickness of Birch is 1/42” or .024” thick

Like others have mentioned, the laminate is somewhat thin, so if you have an older blade, a wobbly blade, or just a cheapo saw that can't get up to the higher rpm, this will splinter all over the place. For the price, I would have expected a bit better quality, but if you cut this with a higher quality saw, you should have no problems. This is extremely easy to use a kreg jig on, and the board was straight as an arrow with no bowing. The wood grain actually looks nice, but pay attention at the store as many had some wood filler in them because of scratches and dings. All in all, not bad, but a bit expensive considering how thin the laminate is.

But for $50 per sheet, there were too many small voids. I was happy with the look and the straightness of the board, but the voids was a big disappointment.

It is very good as compared to the Chinese junk plywood I have had to buy in the past. It is not quite up to the premium USA made plywood but then again it was not near as expensive. I use this product in my tooling operations where they are laminated in to a large block up to 30 inches thick then CNC machined to a form from which I will make the tool that makes my final product. For general cabinetry and or bookcase shelving work where you are going to put a veneer or stain the the panel it will serve well. We found almost no delamination and separation in the plys. Overall a good product that works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Defective Product Purchased a sheet recently for a childs toy box. I have purchased sheets in the past for cabinets and it was great! Cut for the box, assembled with trim and poplar, and sanded the box. Everything looked great. As soon as I applied primer, voids under the veneer bubbled up and thr joints between veneer sheets lifted. I was able to peel up the veneer with my finger nail! The final product looks terrible, even as i continued to wood fill and sand. Worst of all, HD did not stand by their product and refused to offer any refund or store credit. Unfortunately I dont know how to identify a defective sheet vs a good sheet at the store. I will be seeking a new plywood source.

Front side is good although the veneer is very thin. Back side is another story. There are voids in the veneer, a lot of knots (which are okay) and the finish is very rough. I tried to sand the roughness out with an orbital sander and quickly sanded through the veneer, with the roughness remaining. I find this product to be unacceptable, especially at $50 a sheet. I'll be looking for another supplier for my next project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Plywood I have been woodworking for a number of years now, first as a framer not as a finish carpenter, and this PureBond Birch from my latest project was phenomenal. There are very few voids in the plys, the faces were smooth and held up great to cutting. The plywood was also flat and not bowed, which was great for the display cabinet I was building. Even though this plywood cost a little more the quality makes it worth it, as well has not having formaldehyde or other toxins just an added bonus. From here on all my plywood projects will include PureBond! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
