For DIYers and professional tradesmen who recognize the importance of going green and using natural timber harvested in a responsible manner, turn to this FSC-certified PureBond Birch Plywood from Columbia Forest Products. Each 7-ply sheet features decorative birch veneers on the face and back, which exhibit the warmth and beauty of natural hardwood to supply your carpentry creations with visual allure. Furthermore, the 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. panels are manufactured with a soy-based PureBond technology that is formaldehyde-free so it won't deteriorate air quality, as is common with UF-constructed sheets that are susceptible to releasing airborne contaminants over time. With an eye toward sustainability, Columbia takes pride in manufacturing this Earth-conscious product and takes seriously its responsibility in replenishing forests for future generations.

I would call your local store and ask that info. I know the store I go too cuts wood, but there is a limit to how many cuts per piece before they charge for cuts.

some homedepots do have a vertical table saw and they can make some cuts for a charge. One place was really good about accuracy, another not so much. I would consider them rough cuts

Hello,

I am attempting to put some flooring in my shed. Will this wood be a solid choice if I already have a floor with gaps between each plank approximately 1/8" - 1/4". I want to seal up the floor from the weather, insects and critters.

I's be a waste; if there's already flooring down, you should consider 1/2" BC plywood [exterior if damp].

Personally, if dampness is an issue I wouldn't recommend using this plywood. It should be fine for a few years but beyond that I wouldn't trust it. Perhapys a layer of tyvek or hardy board between the ply and the subfloor would make it a viable solution.

Hi Brent,
This wood is not exterior grade, which is what you want for your application. It is also very expensive.
Look for exterior grade plywood with an A/C rating. This plywood has one good side which you can use face up for your shed floor.

Whoa, whoa there... The answer is more complex. It really depends on how you want the cut edge to look. If you cut a VERY accurate miter angle, then these will mate up to a beautiful 90° corner.
But, if you're a bit off, then consider VERY CAREFULLY running a burnishing tool (the 'middle' part of a stout screwdriver would also do) along the "mating surfaces" of the miters.
Do this carefully and you will literally (& lightly) 'crush' the face veneer (& the one below it) so that the mating surfaces now join perfectly, even though there was a little slop in there after the cut.
Now, if we're really talking about an EDGE instead of a corner, then if all you use is the plywood, you will show the veneers through. IF you don't want that, you are looking at 3 main solutions.
1) Glue or iron on a "veneer tape' and trim to thickness once dry.
2) Glue on a strip of hardwood and, once dry, sand/route the edge flush with the plywood thickness.
3) Similar to 2 above, use a set of dedicated router bits to cut a groove into the plywood and a 'point' into the edge of the hardwood edging. You will still have the routing/sanding to get all the edges flush, but this method has the advantage of making a greater surface area for the clue to bond with, making a far stronger decorative edge to the plywood. [As seen from the side, the two profiles look kind of like this...] ►Σ (that is, if those glyphs were to scale...)
Examples include the DR99032 & DR99033 offered by The Home Depot and a similar one (actually a set) by a company called "Whiteside".
Note: The HD version is ~ 16% cheaper than the Whiteside...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stuff The 3/4 in Birch Plywood is perfect for making storage item, cabinets, etc. Easy to cut using my saw with the Rockwell cutting attachment to cut pieces to size. The plywood needs just a light sanding to provide a smooth surface (Except for the foot prints delivery company walked on top of the first piece. Easy to glue/nail finish strips to raw edges to give a more finish look to completed project. October 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice grain look This sheet of birch has a nice grain finish to it that goes the 8 ft. length. It is made of 5 layers. Some of the 4 ft. end layers have about a 1/2" space in them. With a good sharp blade this cuts very nice and smooth. When staining it takes the stain very well and evenly. This is a nice piece of plywood to work with and makes a quality looking project in the end. September 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Plywood This is some quality plywood, especially in todays world of corner cutting etc. Very few voids and repair spots. I used this sheet to make some boards, 2' x 4' for corn hole games and they came out great. I was going to snap a couple of pics before I sent them to the painters but forgot. I used some Kreg Joints on the frame so the top had no screw holes in it. Made for a great finished product, that I expect to last for years. Sanding was minimal because these will be painted, but I have stained this plywood as well and it comes out beautiful. I will snap pics, and edit post when they come back from the painters. They will be KC Chiefs colors for those interested. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It's C3 plywood This is C3 plywood folks. That means you'll see more repaired knots and voids on a sheet, and some defects will be left as is. This type of plywood grade is a good choice for projects where you won't necessarily need a 'show' finish. I used this plywood for approx 100lf of garage cabinets. I did not experience any delamination, excessive voids nor sand through. Anyone looking at this plywood for fine furniture should be looking for A1 grade plywood September 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Beautiful! TOP QUALITY - Great For Making Laundry Room Cabinets I ordered this plywood to custom build my own cabinets due to the miss shaped kitchen walls. I was worried about ordering online, however they were shipped directly to my home without any issues! Communication was quick & friendly & helpful too. This Plywood is Absolute Top Quality! Smooth to the touch without any mars on the face at all. Very Hefty feel also and they weigh in at approximately 72-75 lbs each! Upon working with the sheet it cut well & held the fasteners quite well. Some Natural Timber Oil to bring out the grain & Voila - Awesome Laundry Room Storage! July 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Plywood without any off gassing First off I received two sheets of this plywood in addition to another order that was the thinner version. It was helpful that I was able to compare the product in general. It was shipped form a distance so I was not surprised that 1 of the boards on the outside was really banged up. I figure I can use this piece for a bottom or an unseen support etc. When looking at the better quality face, it was great looking and I would have no problem using it and having it being seen. This went for both boards even though one was banged up. The back varied a lot in the two boards. One back looked much lower grade while another back was almost face quality which was unexpected. My advice would be to look carefully, since its a natural product, choose the boards that fit your project. The plys on the boards I had where really good. The top plys where really thick and I had no problem sanding it down, etc. I found the plys when I cut where even and they all looked thicker than I tought. For the price, I think this is a good alternative to plywood if your looking for a greener plywood. For the quality make sure to look over the boards. August 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor and unusable Not good. Got two loads of it in. Liked the first load until I started using it and the voids inside made it unusable for a finished product. Whole sections without anything under the laminate just made it like a bubble. As soon as it's cut, it deflates and gets ripples in it. Second shipment in just looked like bad period. Had to use it for paint only and even then, in areas that don't show. December 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for Carcasses Don't expect cabinet-grade plywood here. It's a 5-ply with thin veneers. Being someone who pockets these materials in dadoes, what I found most interesting was the high variation in thickness throughout the board. The nominal thickness measured in at 0.718" but varied from 0.702 to 0.731" ... and that leaves a lot of "grinning" when the dado set is dialed in for the minimum value. So materials like this are best-suited for pocket hole joinery to a face frame. Also, neither side was 'clear' and to my standards, not stain-grade. July 4, 2016
