Customer Questions & Answers

Are the strips right for my pictures?

I am hanging 6 pictures. They weigh between 3 & 6 lbs. I hung these with nails, but don't want any holes in wall. Are these a good pick for the strips?
Asked by: Maggie
These are a good pick however each set of strips holds 4 lbs so you should use them according to the weight of each frame you are hanging up. Thanks for asking!

Will these work on cork board?

I have some cork board I want to mount on the wall but I am not sure if these will stick.
Asked by: Jess
It depends on the back of the cork board. Our products will adhere to smooth/sealed surfaces when weight limits and instructions are followed. If that is not the back of your board consider using this as it holds most 11 x 17 inch frames and boards. Thanks for asking!

command strips for hanging pictures

I have 6 pictures to hang. They weigh between 3 & 4 lbs. They are not expensive pictures. I have hung them with nails, but I want to get the strips to hang them. What kind & how many should I get?
Asked by: Maggie
Thanks for asking. All of our picture hanging strips are ideal for picture and frame hanging. Each set of small strips will hold 1 lbs, medium 3 lbs, and large 4 lbs. So when using 4 sets small holds up to 4 lbs, medium 12 lbs, and large 16 lbs. So for 3-4 lb pictures you can use 3-4 small sets, or 1-2 medium sets, or 1 large set. Thanks again!

Will these Command 4 lb. Large White Plastic Picture Hanging Strips adhere to vinyl siding?

We want to hang some slate artwork on our covered front porch. The porch is protected and the places we would hang the objects would not get rained on.
Asked by: Anonymous
Thanks for asking! We do not recommend the use of these hanging strips on vinyl siding. Vinyl is made of a material that few adhesives can adhere to it.

No, I haven't had good luck trying to attach these to cloth (e.g. a quilt).

I have a thirty lb mirror to hang. Will eight 4lb command strips hold it?

Asked by: Jan
Unfortunately our product will not work for a 30 lb mirror. The wall paint can only hold so much which is why this product can only allow 4 sets of strips to be used for a total of 16 lbs. We do not offer anything that can hold more weight than that but thank you for asking!

Hello, can I use this product on a brick wall in the basement ? , and if so, will it hold up?

Hello, can I use this product on a brick wall in the basement ? , and if so, will it hold up?
Asked by: Daryl
Our product will hold up on concrete or brick as long as it is sealed or painted. If the brick is not coated the surface is too porous for long-term use of our product. Thanks for asking!

Will Command strips work on textured walls? They're indoors & like really soft stucco in appearance.

I have a Command picture hanging set that includes the ones for pictures w/wired frames, & wall strips of varying weight values.
Asked by: Michele
Our foam picture hanging strips will conform to walls that have a smooth to light texture because the foam is able to conform. If the walls have medium to heavy texture we would recommend using an alternative product to hang up your pictures. Thanks for asking, and check out for further information.

Customer Reviews

4 lb. Large White Plastic Picture Hanging Strips is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 805.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this product around 2 years ago and was very impressed, until the last 2 weeks. I was awoken in the middle of the night to a loud banging and smashing sound! I came downstairs to find 1 of my pictures on the floor with the frame broken and glass everywhere. I thought maybe one of the children had touched it and left it at that. Anyway I walked into my front room this morning and my second picture has just fallen off the wall, again breaking the frame! Now I need to buy 2 more frames and drill my walls! I have 4 children and I'm extremely lucky none where near the pictures when they decided to fall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Command Strips I have used command strips for many pictures in my home. The weight of the pictures varies from light canvas squares to heavy wood. All are hanging safely, and I have a heavy collage frame that I occasionally take down to change the pictures. I simply separate the two strips carefully, change the pictures and snap back on. Remember, you must follow the directions on the package. Clean the wall, and the surface of the picture where you will place the stickers, with alcohol, let it dry thoroughly, attach the strips to picture, measure and attach strips to wall, and let the strips on the wall sit and adhere for an hour before hanging the picture. This method is foolproof. The only time a picture fell was when I did not clean the wall with alcohol first. Hope this helps those that are struggling. Be patient and follow the steps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stickiness! I have been buying these strips for the past three years. While at college, they held things so great and even now, I still use them. They are great sticking to walls even in humidity as well!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed. I recently moved into a brand new apartment. I bought command strips and hooks because I wanted to be courteous to my landlords. I can't even hang regular pictures without them falling. There are so many spots on my walls where paint has been stripped because of command hooks. I would have been less destructive using nails. It's not that I want to bash the product or the company but I expected much better quality than I received.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not adhesive at all I could not get these to stick to my wall at all. The pictures I was hanging were less than 2 lbs each. Waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripped a hole in my wall. I bought this for Christmas after we remodeled our home so I wouldn't damage the walls. When pulling the tab down to move one of the stockings it took a chunk out of the texture of the drywall. I am so frustrated and scared to remove the others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Hung all pictures while following instructions to the letter. Came home to shattered memories and broken frames. I am disgusted by the lack of quality control they put into this garbage. I will make it a point to post my experience everywhere I can. I can't believe the amount of money we wasted and how much you have cost me with your horrible products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time and money on this product! I just moved into a new apartment and bought some Command strips to save the newly-painted walls from damage from nails. Everything I tried to hang--which were all under a pound each in weight--failed to stay on the walls with these strips! My shadowbox stayed on the wall for about an hour...??....then it fell onto the floor, along with my small figurines that I had for several years. The figurines shattered into a million pieces, and cannot be replaced! I will never buy any product from Command again in the future--and I feel the company should reimburse people who lost valuable items from the strips not working!
