Customer Questions & Answers

I have been told that I need 3M Sawtooth Hangers Item # 17047ALT, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet. Please advise

Hi Jubilee, as you heard from The Home Depot response, you've found the right product! The number/letter combinations behind the product make no difference. These typically refer to color or quantity for that specific package. As long as the package says Sawtooth Picture Hanger or the catalog number is 17047 you do have the correct product. Thanks!

I would like to hang a plexiglass flat picture that cannot be drilled into. It needs to be hung Angeling down so that

Light can shine through the back. I am not sure what the best method is to use to hang this tilted down. I think perhaps it may look good if I use a wire however I can't drill d rings into the back of the lucite. What is the BEST command item that I can run a wire through it and will act as a way to keep the artwork with the top 3 inches away from the wall totally tilted at an angle down (total weight is about 10 pounds)? Is there a better way I can achieve this tilt on hanging my artwork?

Our picture hanging hooks are to be used 1 hook per item and none of them is able to hold up a 10 lb picture. Our picture hanging strips in size medium can hold up to a 12 lb picture and large strips can hold up to a 16 lb picture when 4 sets of strips are used but they will be seen if the lucite is clear. If you'd like to discuss this with our team please reach out to 1.800.934.7355 M-F 8am-5pm CT. Thank you!

5 lb. Metal Sticky Nail Sawtooth Picture Hanger is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 97.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I used the Universal Picture Hanger, followed the directions & the canvas print was hanging nicely. Now, I did use the two sets of mini strips (stabilizing strips). So, how would I remove them if necessary? The instructions only show how to remove the main strip/hook. Thanks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed, ruined frame+scratched walls I came home from work today to a broken picture frame and scratched wall after the Command Universal Picture Hanger peeled off from my wall. I framed painting was well under the suggested 5-pound limit for this product. The picture had been hanging for 6 months without issue until today. I followed all product instructions. I'm very disappointed and unimpressed with this product. It failed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, perfect with improvements I use these sticky nails to hang the two calendars in my house. The diameter of the nail is perfect for calendars and I don't have to poke any holes in the wall! However, I wonder if it would be possible to make the nail head screwable? One calendar I have has metal eyelets that I have to take out each month in order to fit over the nail head. The other calendar I also have to rip in order to fit it over the nail head. I would have also liked to use this product to hang my metal spice rack but once again the nail head was too large to fit. If the nail head was somehow able to screw off and then I could put It back on I would be using this product much more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from be careful when reading instructions! We bought these today to hang an awkward panoramic print. Initially thrilled to find these hangers...until we read the directions. The photo and colors didn't match so I came to the site to get some clarification. After reading the reviews, it's no wonder that many reviewers are saying that they don't work. The directions on the package and directions online are completely different (see photos). Am assuming the online directions are correct as they make more sense?! Neither one explains the smaller strips included or correctly lists the color for them. Considering the cost of the product and the piece you're hanging, using questionable directions is risky. Have loved other Command products but can't recommend this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love how they hang lightweight photos and art. I have had boot camp graduation pictures of our three boys on the wall for over a year. No problems with them. I had them up when we were in Florida (i.e.; humidity), for even longer. Again, no problems. The only thing I do differently than your instructions say is that I wait 24 hours before hanging my pictures. Now I have a dilemma. I have a very large and very heavy picture to hang. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is that I can not, based on your own information on the website, safely hang this picture with your product. I gotta do holes. . .but, I will be using the stabilizing strips (the large kind that are used for hanging art as they add support as well).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Removal failure I used 2 of these to hang a small shelf. They held up okay for 10 months. However, when I attempted to remove them, per instructions pulling straight down on the adhesive tab, the the tab broke off behind the hanger on both of them. Had to pull them off the wall, along with the paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, easy to use Used the large sawtooth picture hanger to hang a medium-sized mirror that is probably at least 4 lbs, possibly 5. It has held up solidly for several months now and was very easy to use. I have several Command hooks throughout the house and love them, but this was my first picture hanger use. I was concerned about using this with a mirror, but the solid combination of the nail hanger and the bottom support strips is much more stable than a normal nail hanger. I will definitely be using more of these! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined Wall We purchased these hangers for a new home. They worked well to hang pictures and did not have issues with the product staying up. But removal was another matter. Most of the hangers did not come off "cleanly without surface damage" as advertised. Some left a dark spot on the paint on the wall. Others, even though removed according to directions (yes we read them before removal), took a chunk of the drywall. Two of the hangers came off, but left a bubble in the drywall where the paper of the drywall separated from the drywall. We used the hangers appropriate for the weight of the picture/frame. It did not seem to matter if the hangers were for the lighter or heavier pictures...the removal problems occurred with both. Disappointing! It is far easier to repair small nail holes than it is to fix the damage to our walls from these adhesive hangers so we will not be using this product again.
