My current closet light is a simple pull string exposed bulb, with no light switch. If I install this fixture, would I have to also install a light switch? Is there a similar model that operates via a pull string?

Answer:
No, but you could put a 1.8 watt LED bulb in it, and just leave it on. Would cost about 2 Dollars per year to operate. It's a great light. I bought a few for a house with a low ceiling, and another one for a kitchen that had a five light track light.
This is also a case of the best HD products being online and not in the stores.

I don't think so. If it were any smaller, there wouldn't be room for the regular base bulb.

Answer:
This unit is pretty small already. There isn't much more thickness than the metal backer plate, the bulb and the glass. A globe type fixture will have a smaller footprint, but be twice as thick.

We are currently using three of these lights and they work great for single bulb lights. One is in a full bath, one is in a 18 foot hall and the last one lights my wife's craft/sewing room. We used 60 watt equivalent Bright White LED bulbs which put out a good clean bright light.

It replaced the old-fashioned globes, giving our unit a much sleeker, contemporary look. I was afraid the bulbs would show through, but using incandescents, it was not an issue. For some reason, one out of the 4 lights installed seemed to have a lower hanging bulb, but we don't know if the contractor used a different bulb, or if it can be adjusted at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Light Needed hallway light fixtures to replace some old dated looking ones. These are perfect. Well made, easy to install, and look nice. I wish they made this in a larger style that could hold two or three light bulbs for use in a larger room.
