this is probably a dumb question, but just unsure how that works. Assuming this has a plug on one or both ends...I want to remove the plug and hardwire it directly into the switch. Is that possible? I don;t want to have to keep plugging it in and out...I just want to flick the switch.

Answer:
Don't cut the plug off... just wire the switch to control the outlet that the lights will be plugged into. You can wire it so just the one plug or the whole outlet is controlled by the switch. Should be able to search this out on web or youtube.

Home depot also sells in-line switches, like what you would find on a small lamp, and can be installed with minimal skill.

Answer:
There are different types of lights, some that expect an outlet and some that are designed for "hard wire" to a switch or some other circuit.
I would recommend a timer or some other external switch as you shouldn't disturb the wiring from the manufacturer.

Answer:
Hard wiring the rope light only makes a very easy project more difficult. If you are capable of hard wiring the light there is no reason to ask the question.

This particular LED rope light cannot be cut, but we do offer several other types, particularly CabLED and Armacost brands, that can be.

If the packaging doesn't specify, then I would judge it to be cool or warm white. The light is a soft amber sort of color that is very pleasing and not glaring.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LED Rope Lights They work grate. the only drawback is that their somewhat directional, so i would suggest plugging them in as your installing them , turning them the right direction as you go. July 7, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lights stopped working I had the lights on a timer set to come on at dusk. I noticed lights were off after dark. Confirmed I had power at wall outlet and confirmed timer was working. Light string has a heavy duty cord with a built in AC to DC converter. I tested and found no DC current past this converter. No way to repair, nor could I find a replacement for just the cord. March 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Royobi 12 volt impact and drill the impact is very light and compact. A single battery will last most of the day under heavy use. Great value and the tool bag will hold tons of bits. Built a temporary wall for a mall entrance in no time. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WONDERFUL PRODUCT!!!!!! WAS EASY TO INSTALL AND LOOKS GREAT. PRICE WAS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE BUT OTHERWISE VERY NICE PRODUCT!! February 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As promised The lights work as promised, however because they're curled up from being bound so tight, a few more clips would have been helpful. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product, accent lighting Was a little stiff to work with out of the package. Roll it out and let it relax. Not a bright light but fine for above cabinet accent lights which is what I used. Only complaint is that after about two months, I wanted to move it to paint and 2 out of 2 mounting clips broke when I tried to remove the rope light. I stopped and painted around it. January 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the small additional cost I wanted LED rope lights for my deck and steps down to the water and boat dock. I had previously bought LED lights on sale at a couple of chain drug stores. They were yellowish and lasted only about 6 months. I went to HD to buy new lights because my neighbor has had the same sets for over 6 years with no problems. Sure, they're a little more expensive but well worth the small increase. It's been a few months now and they are still bright white, no burned out sections and they garner positive comments from my neighbors. I plan to purchase some additional sets in the near future. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase Delivery was on time and just what i wanted. The price was right too. Thank you. January 29, 2016
