Customer Questions & Answers

how would I wire this into an existing outlet that I have a switch on, so I can just switch the power on/off

this is probably a dumb question, but just unsure how that works. Assuming this has a plug on one or both ends...I want to remove the plug and hardwire it directly into the switch. Is that possible? I don;t want to have to keep plugging it in and out...I just want to flick the switch.
Asked by: Rome
Don't cut the plug off... just wire the switch to control the outlet that the lights will be plugged into. You can wire it so just the one plug or the whole outlet is controlled by the switch. Should be able to search this out on web or youtube.

Are adapters available for the connector when replacing an incandescent rope light with LED.

The LED connector and the incandescent connector are different sizes. My old cord his hard wired into the attic and cannot be easily replaced.
Asked by: walt
Incandescent and LED work the same as far as just plugging them in goes. I replaced my incandescent lights and these work great.

No, there is no good way to terminate it unless you are skilled at electrical work.

18 ft. White LED Rope Light Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lights stopped working 1st day,Clips are terrible While installing rope lights in closet, I noticed that the clips were very brittle and broke easily. Lights only partially came on first time lights were switched on. During the first day, fewer and fewer worked as they were turned on. I will take down today and return today! Poor quality!

They are the same model number of another set of lights that I purchased last year and those are bright white lights. Maybe this set is defective but they are not even close to the older set with the same model number.

We purchased the bright white versions for both ropes, however the 17 footer is more pinkish in color. We can't see anything that would cause a pinkish reflection when we turn the lights on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lights, but included hardware is terrible I bought two 18 ft rope lights, which connected seamlessly, and mounted them on the balcony of my condo. I originally used the included clips and screws, but ended up replacing every one of them because the screws stripped extremely easily and 5 of the 18 clips broke. I ended up replacing with 3/4" cable clamps, which work much better and hold the cord much straighter. Do yourself a favor and buy the cable clamps along with the rope light and save yourself the time and frustration of having to re-mount everything.
