Can these light be purchased without the plug and switch so I can add onto the first light?

I want to run 3 of these lights in series under 3 cabinets but can't find if they sell them individually or just in the full kit with plug, switch, etc.
Asked by: Chris
As an end user I have purchased these in the Autumn of 2014 and love the look and ease of set-up, actually using them in a retail shop to add more light in displays. Yes - You can chain 4 units of the 12 inch lights, or 3 of the 18 inch or 2 of the 24 inch lights in a string on one transformer (which are small). Today I just picked up more of these units as they are discounted and being dropped by Home Dept - I have no idea why as the world is switching to LEDs and these function great! Having that back-up transformer is not a bad idea, BTW. JER

how long is the wire provided to link more then one light together

Asked by: monk
One end of the LED strip is female and the other is male, allowing the strip lights to be connected directly together without the use of connecting wires. A nominal 15 cm flexible connector is provided in each kit where this is an obstruction between the two ends and/or you want to place the strips at an angle to each other. These connectors are not sold separately..

Can you exchange the power source/transformer for a higher wattage. ie 15 to 30 thus allowing more sticks to be linked.

can you plug more than one 15 w unit into a single outlet ,safely.
Asked by: diygal
Usually LED Drivers are sized to provide optimum power for up to a maximum length based on the total watts of the strips. I sell high end LED strip lighting where various sizes of LED Drivers are supplied for various total watts of a short or long run, for example. But, the drivers supplied with these Commercial Electric fixtures are necessarily of a fixed size for compatibility and cost reasons. Larger Drivers are available but they may lack the proper connectors to make them usable and their cost is probably in excess of the base cost of these simple LED strip lights. In a simple answer, the answer is NO. If you want longer runs, use more Drivers (transformers).

Is the "Adjustable AC Power Cord" really adjustable???

On the back of the box under "Kit Includes:" there is listed an "Adjustable AC Power Cord" But there is No visible way of adjusting the cord. Is it adjustable and if so please explain how in detail.
Asked by: Keni
The adjustability of the power cord has nothing to do with its length or configuration. The cord is adjustable because it includes a power switch that allows you (1) to turn your LED strip light ON and OFF and (2) to adjust the output by 50% to decrease the light output of the strip light. Nothing physically for you to do here.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Led light kits (703 780 ) Why do you sell a product that allows up to 4 light linked , but do sell the extra lights and cords. Buyer0s must buy full kits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product The illustration on the Home Depot website does not do this excellent product justice. I found the LED light kits by browsing LED lighting in my local store, not online where frankly they look sub-standard. In the end, I bought five units and installed three under one kitchen cabinet and two under the other. Small brackets are installed under the cabinet with screws, the units are plugged into each other, and the complete light snaps into the brackets. The 24V power cable is attached to one end. Like many others, I've installed under-cabinet light with double-sided tape and wound up using strong adhesives when the tape failed shortly after installation. No problem here with the metal brackets and screws. We installed the new LED lighting as parts of a kitchen "refresh" with new cabinets; our old cabinets had halogen under-cabinet lighting so we had through-wall wiring and wall switches in place. I installed one low-profile surface-mount electrical box and connected it to the existing wiring in each cabinet for the LED power supply to plug into. I cut the wire from the LED lights and passed it through a hole into the cabinet where I soldered in a splice and covered it with heat-shrink tubing. The wall switch controls the LED light and there is a high-low-off LED switch inside the cabinet; that switch "remembers" its last setting when the wall switch is turned on and off. The installation is clean and elegant. Up to three 18-inch units can be joined and powered by one power supply. Since I installed five units and two power supplies, I have three spare power supplies in the unlikely event of a problem in the future. Highly recommended even if they are a bit on the expensive side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Commercial Electric under cabinet light Well made and easy to install. The light it provided was even better that I expected. I install 4 feet under my cabinets which required 2 units because Home Depot does not sell the expansion units. I just seems a waste to have to throw away the power supply to get the length I needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright Easy to install. It's a bit too bright as an accent light. I wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. I put it under cabinets in the kitchen. Even the dimmer level is too high. Wish there were another, lower, setting. Tried a wall switch dimmer and that doesn't work with this product. I like the look and ease of installation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from More for Accent than Task I installed two of these under my kitchen cabinets. They were fairly easy to install; screw two holder clips in line and spend about 10 minutes trying to press the light track into them. It is completely plastic and feels very flimsy. My biggest complaint with the installation is the fact that the power/dim button is separated from the unit on the power cord and requires finding a place for it on the cabinet (no mounting tape or screws provided) and then dealing with all the extra wires. As to how it works/looks: it is a warm white light (on the yellow side) that is bright enough for a nice accent light in the kitchen, but is not sufficient for use alone as a task light. I installed them 3 inches from the front edge of my cabinets and it lights up the backsplash nicely, but pretty much fades out about halfway across the countertop. I also wish that the light were a little more 'diffused'. The individual LED lights on the unit are barely visible, but they reflect back up at me from the granite counter top, which I find a little annoying. Overall, they are a decent choice for DIYers, but I don't feel that they live up to their price. Update: one of the fixtures just dropped as I was writing this review. Down goes the score...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good light but some issues you should know Just purchased so can not testify to longevity yet. However the following can be said thus far: The Good: Light is warm, slightly yellow as advertised and projects and even glow the entire length. My use was for a 36" wide x 12" deep x 48" high curio cabinet and the lighting does reach the bottom of the cabinet without being overly bright. It is after all an accent light. Instillation was easy with proper planning. However, see below. The Bad. The first thing I don't like is the switch and the dimming is deceptive. It is a single button that goes from off to ... on high ... to dim to about 50% then off. The description says that it is dimmable from 50-100%, which implies that it is variable. Technically, this is true but in practice it does from 100% to 50% to off in about 1/2 second. You would need some pretty fast reflexes to get it to stop in between. More often then not you would either end up in one of the three positions, off, on high, on medium. With that said, this is not enough to make me take it back, since I will run it on high all the time anyway. Installing means drilling a large 1" hole to run the cable through because the connector is large and not removable. Also, the cables are fairly short. May not be a problem in a cabinet with power nearby, but for my use it means using an extension cord. Time will tell if it lasts but I am reasonably happy with it thus far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and nice We are using these to accent (5) glass cases in our showroom, they are so easy to install and give off great light. I did not use the mounting brackets, we bought double backed tape because the light weighed so little it was much easier to install. Our installation requires two of these per case and you get everything needed so there is nothing else to buy. I will have around $500.00 invested which is a lot better that the $2,500.00 we were quoted. For what you get it seems a little pricey, but they will last forever.
