I know it says it takes incandescent, but LEDs seem to work in most incandescent fixtures. If you've been able to use LED bulbs in this, please let us know; and if possible also share the brand and/or the model number. Thanks

I'm currently using LED bulbs in this fixture, after having asked several folks (including an electrician) if it should be safe. I've tried spot checking the fixture, and the heat being produced seems to be substantially less than I have seen in similar conditions with incandescent bulbs.

As to brand/model, I'm not sure which ones they are. I do know that they're both in the "40-watt replacement" range (since the fixture is in an upstairs hallway and thus isn't trying to light a huge space), and were probably bought as inexpensive offerings from some big-box store. Read Less

Answer:
Although LED bulbs will work fine, it is not yet wise to use LEDs in an enclosed fixture because of the heat the bulbs emit. I have about ten LED lights in my house, but only in lamps and vanity fixtures because they get too hot anywhere else.

We purchased these lights to replace 1970s ceiling lights in my fathers home. They look like they cost far more than this purchase price!! Very rich looking and with the newly painted ceilings, the rooms are much brighter. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I am putting these in a hallway stairs leading down to the basement with a light and switch at the top and bottom of the stairs. The bottom of the stairs light box has two black hot wires hooked to the old fixture. The new fixture has the new type wire connectors that will not allow two wires to go into the connector. Can you give any advice on how to fix this problem. Thank you.

If you replacing an existing ceiling mount fixture that is there, you'd need to do the same wiring configuration. Using a wire tester/tracker will greatly assist you in this project.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Low cost, but you get what you pay for. Bad quality control on parts. The light fixtures look good, especially for such a low price. The quality of the parts however aren't so good. The wiring splices were improperly crimped and the wires did not actually connect. I had to cut the wires before the crimp splicer the factory used, then strip and wire nut them together. Also, the mounting bracket did not have all of the screw holes threaded. I fortunately have a tap and die kit and used it to thread the holes in the brackets so I could screw the mounting screws into the bracket. Doing this was still easier then returning them so I just did the fixes myself. August 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice light, a bit tricky install I like how this light has two of the common screw-in connectors for the bulbs. I bought two of these to replace a harder-to-find and inferior 4-pin CFL light fixture. Instead of replacing the ballast on it, I went ahead and bought this. Great look but install was a little tricky. It would have been easier if it utilized the center larger threaded connection to the bracket, but instead it used two small (a bit too small) threaded screws on the edge. Need to push insulation to get it to slide into the grove before twisting and tightening up. Second fixture took half the time as I knew what I was in for. Nice value. Take your time installing. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by An unreliable product After less than one year of average use in my kitchen, this light fixture began acting like a strobe light. We could not deal with it and I had to pay an electrician to install a different light fixture, another major expense for us. July 19, 2016
