40 in. LED Linear Light Fixture is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the garage I installed two of these in my garage and they work well. Low power consumption, silent, and instant on. The mounting base is a bit light duty but once on the wall hasn't been an issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great garage light The light itself is great. Nice color and brighter than the twin T8 tube light it replaced. I expect these lights will work well when it gets cold as opposed to the tube lights which would never quite turn on. Installation was a bit of a pain. One of the two lights I bought didn't work (just flashed). I exchanged the bad one with a working one. The installation is done in two parts. First you attach a plastic plate to the junction box; then connect wires; then the fixture snaps onto clips on the plate. The first step would be easy if the correct screws were supplied. The instructions call for a #6-32 x 1.5" screw to connect to the junction box. The included screws were the wrong size and length. My junction box (and new ones at Home Depot) require a #8-32 x 1.5" or 1.25", not a #6. Connecting the wires is easy, although having a second person to hold the fixture makes it much easier. The final step where you snap the fixture onto the mounting plate can be a bit of a challenge. Sometimes it would not click into place because the fixture body would stop at the ceiling before the "click". I found that sliding a flat piece of metal, in my case a metal drawer divider, behind the plate clips made it easier to snap the fixture in place. Just slide out the plate after you hear the click.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from led Bright light. easy to install. that simple. i do wish they had an extra size wire nut, but that really ok. i installed 4 and they put out just as much as the regular lights but they are 100x safer to use as they are led based. no heat, only a few watts of electricity. you cant lose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am never buying another fluorescent light fixture I recently replaced a chandelier-type fixture with a fluorescent when the room was changed to a workroom. The cheap fluorescent I bought was awful--it would light only after multiple flicks of the switch. And I absolutely hate trying to replace fluorescent tubes. Looking for a better solution, I found this, and even though it was expensive, I decided that ease of installation and lack of maintenance, as well as the amount of light it puts out, would make it worth the money. WOW. Installing it was simple (though I needed someone to help support it while I wired it--it's lightweight but I needed two hands for the wiring). The only struggle was due to a stray wire nut that initially prevented the fixture from clipping to the support plate. Once that was out of the way, the fixture simply clicked into place and the job was done. The fixture lights instantly and is incredibly bright (make sure you are putting it somewhere you want that much light). It is very attractive once installed. Well worth the money for my purposes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light. This is a great light. It was a little hard to install behind a valance because of the clearances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Awesome! What can I say...this LED fixture is absolutely awesome. I've been impressed with Cree products for some time now and I've been buying their standard LED light bulbs. The ballast in my two garage fluorescent fixtures needed to be replaced so I decided to take the plunge and try out Cree's LED replacement fixtures and they are great. Shipped on time and arrived at the house shortly thereafter from Home Depot. Simple instructions to install; turn off breaker, clip wires from old fixture, wire nut wires from new LED fixture, mount plate on ceiling and then clip new light on the base plate. The fixture is very light and after you figure how to tuck the wires it is easy to clip onto the face plate. The resulting light output is stunning!. I was initially concerned when they came in since they are not very long fixtures but the lumens output is great. A little pricey due to the newness of LED lighting but well worth it. Instant on and bright, visible light!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice and bright but there's limitations. The light must be centered under the junction box. You can't offset it. It also uses a proprietary plastic mounting adapter. Break it and you're done. if you need to drop it to paint the ceiling, you probably won't remember how the light latches on to the mounting adapter. That's most likely when you'll break it. You have to remember to push a screwdriver into the slot to release it. There's no facility to put a mount screw in at the ends. So you have to hope that those two screws are enough. That plastic mount adapter is all that supports the weight and it looks a little flimsy to me. There are only two screws that hold the whole thing to the ceiling. It's very easy to install the light crooked. If you used the slotted holes in the mounting adapter, you can twist the light to straighten it out. There are also no knockouts at the end so you can mount multiple lights end to end. The light is very bright though and it's a very clean white light...no blue or gold tint to the light. I can see needing only one light where you thought two would be required. Overall, the quality of construction and installation options could be better but for the laundry room, it's acceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced a T8 Fixture in Closet I got tired of replacing T8 bulbs in a figure in the closet. I saw this and decided to give it a try. Typically the installation would go easier, but there wasn't an electrical box in my ceiling behind the fixture, as the wires were tied together inside the figure. So I had to install a box first which meant cutting a 4" hole in the ceiling, installing a brace for the box (you can't hang stuff from old work boxes) then I could install the fixture. The light is really crisp and a nice color. It isn't white and it isn't yellow. Amazing how much light comes out. It took two people to hang because I couldn't hold and wire it at the same time. They should put a something on the back to hold it to the electrical box while you wire it. I'll be ordering a 24" one from another website since Home Depot doesn't carry it and installing it in the laundry room.
