Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MarkB Nice and bright but there's limitations.
The light must be centered under the junction box. You can't offset it. It also uses a proprietary plastic mounting adapter. Break it and you're done. if you need to drop it to paint the ceiling, you probably won't remember how the light latches on to the mounting adapter. That's most likely when you'll break it. You have to remember to push a screwdriver into the slot to release it. There's no facility to put a mount screw in at the ends. So you have to hope that those two screws are enough. That plastic mount adapter is all that supports the weight and it looks a little flimsy to me.
There are only two screws that hold the whole thing to the ceiling. It's very easy to install the light crooked. If you used the slotted holes in the mounting adapter, you can twist the light to straighten it out.
There are also no knockouts at the end so you can mount multiple lights end to end.
The light is very bright though and it's a very clean white light...no blue or gold tint to the light. I can see needing only one light where you thought two would be required.
Overall, the quality of construction and installation options could be better but for the laundry room, it's acceptable.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hawk Replaced a T8 Fixture in Closet
I got tired of replacing T8 bulbs in a figure in the closet. I saw this and decided to give it a try. Typically the installation would go easier, but there wasn't an electrical box in my ceiling behind the fixture, as the wires were tied together inside the figure. So I had to install a box first which meant cutting a 4" hole in the ceiling, installing a brace for the box (you can't hang stuff from old work boxes) then I could install the fixture.
The light is really crisp and a nice color. It isn't white and it isn't yellow. Amazing how much light comes out. It took two people to hang because I couldn't hold and wire it at the same time. They should put a something on the back to hold it to the electrical box while you wire it. I'll be ordering a 24" one from another website since Home Depot doesn't carry it and installing it in the laundry room.

The appearance of the 40 in. LED linear light fixture was fine. The lumens were too bright. The light was so bright that it shone outside of the laundry room into the hallway. A led light fixture with less lumens does not yet exist. I returned it to Home Depot.

The lights look great and give off excellent light for my garage. Only suggestion would be to lengthen the wires to make the connection easier. The wires are too short to rest the fixture on the top of the ladder while connecting them to the power source in the box. Also the mounting clips are difficult to release if you need to take the light down.

I'm pretty happy with my new lights, but I haven't compared them to any other linear LED systems. I'll be buying more for my other garage bay once the CFL's go out. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fred Absolutely Awesome!
What can I say...this LED fixture is absolutely awesome. I've been impressed with Cree products for some time now and I've been buying their standard LED light bulbs. The ballast in my two garage fluorescent fixtures needed to be replaced so I decided to take the plunge and try out Cree's LED replacement fixtures and they are great. Shipped on time and arrived at the house shortly thereafter from Home Depot. Simple instructions to install; turn off breaker, clip wires from old fixture, wire nut wires from new LED fixture, mount plate on ceiling and then clip new light on the base plate. The fixture is very light and after you figure how to tuck the wires it is easy to clip onto the face plate. The resulting light output is stunning!. I was initially concerned when they came in since they are not very long fixtures but the lumens output is great. A little pricey due to the newness of LED lighting but well worth it. Instant on and bright, visible light!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tmgarvey I am never buying another fluorescent light fixture
I recently replaced a chandelier-type fixture with a fluorescent when the room was changed to a workroom. The cheap fluorescent I bought was awful--it would light only after multiple flicks of the switch. And I absolutely hate trying to replace fluorescent tubes.
Looking for a better solution, I found this, and even though it was expensive, I decided that ease of installation and lack of maintenance, as well as the amount of light it puts out, would make it worth the money.
WOW. Installing it was simple (though I needed someone to help support it while I wired it--it's lightweight but I needed two hands for the wiring). The only struggle was due to a stray wire nut that initially prevented the fixture from clipping to the support plate. Once that was out of the way, the fixture simply clicked into place and the job was done.
The fixture lights instantly and is incredibly bright (make sure you are putting it somewhere you want that much light). It is very attractive once installed.
Well worth the money for my purposes
