I purchased and installed eight of these kits 7-8yrs ago. The trim is now discolored from the heat of the bulbs over time - which is not totally unexpected. The challenge I'm facing now is finding affordable (key word) replacement trims - selections are very limited that fit this type of housing. Honestly, the cheapest solution may be to buy the entire kit and just use the trim - which is far from ideal.
In general, 5" recessed lights are less common than 4 or 6in housings. If you can make them work, I would recommend going with one of those sizes. The availability of product selections is much greater.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jimmyc Hard to find trim parts separate from housing
Spent a lot of time looking for replacement trim due to discoloration. Aperture size is slightly smaller than most 5 inch recessed light fixtures. Ended by buying complete set and only using trim components. Will now contact manufacturer to see if parts are available from them on a direct purchase basis. The extra cost per unit can add up after a while.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Get2work Value light kit good for bedrooms and basements
This review is based on the installation of four lights in two bedrooms of an old farm house.
Pros: Price, Complete kit for remodel, Easy installation, Thermal safety protected
Cons: Small Fixture Trim, Ceiling Clips could have more contact area, not for direct contact with insulation
Installation goes relatively quick; four fixtures, two rooms, bulbs in, lights on, three hours. Could have done it in two hours but.... this is an old farm house.
These lights are great value for a basement, bedroom, laundry room etc. The Ceiling Clips that hold the fixture snug to the face of the ceiling had a tendency to slide into the hole cut for the fixture. Also, the small size of the fixture trim ring makes any imperfections, while cutting the hole in the ceiling, harder to hide. Take extra precautions while cutting the hole, cut just to the inside of the template line may limit any chance of error.
The three star rating could be boosted up to 4 stars if the size of the ceiling clips were increased. Overall a good value product for installing recessed ligting in the 'back rooms' of the home.
