Answer:
In addition to the foam at the bottom, there is foam tape covering any holes on the can. The foam is the essential difference between the airtight and non-airtight models.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by They work great These work as advertised. If you take the time to install them they work perfectly. The connectors are also very good for DIYers. Do not hesitate or spend more money, these work great. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it should... The housings work as they should. The reason why they are cheaper than halo is because the metal is thinner. If you are not careful you can bend them simply by getting them out of the box. You can bend some back into shape but the ones with bends at the dome are not useful. They install just like the halo housings. I do like their air tight trims better. Im hopeful for durability October 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good I was torn between these and the Halo brand which cost a bit more money. If I was only doing a couple of lights I wouldn't be so price conscious but I am installing 28 so it adds up. For lights I am using the CREE 65 watt equivalent LED retrofit. I went to the store and played with both of them in person. They both seemed of equal quality. I decided to do one room first, than decide if I should stick with them. So far I am very happy with them. I cut the hole for them slightly small, nice tight fit. I have not had any issues cracking the sheet rock ceilings. The cans hold nice and tight. The wiring connectors are easy to use. I am using Romex connectors with them for added security with 14/2 cable. At this point I have 12 installed, and am returning to buy the remainder of them tonight. The people who say the metal is too thin must be ham handed, if the hole is cut to the right size you don't need to push hard at all. Same for the metal bottom ring, if it is cut right, they fit perfect. Test fit the light you are putting in there first to make sure everything lines up nice. September 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good product I installed 6 of these recessed cans after a remodel in my kitchen. Holes were cut the same size as the template. Easy to wire up, using 14/2 romex, and the plug in wire connectors are easy to use. Cans installed quite nicely. Hint: use a flat blade screwdriver to push up on the wire lock, to pull the can up to the ceiling for a good, flush fit. For the light itself, I installed the Commercial Electric warm white LEDs. These LED lights are much brighter than I thought! I then installed a Lutron dimmer, which is one of the dimmers that was recommended by the manufacturer. Dimmer works great and make absolutely no buzzing sound. Overall, it took me about 2 hours for the installation. Follow the instructions, and you shouldn't have any problems! January 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value We bought 9 of these and 1 shallow halo housing for a low spot in our ceiling. We actually liked these more than the Halo cans. There was a few things we learned along the process... The template worked fine for our for installation, the feet hold great, and the connectors work perfectly.... but we did find the metal ring (at the opening) stuck out too far to be covered by our LED lights on one side. We started using tin snips to crop that down before the install. That's why they get 4 stars. We also learned there was a little trick to getting the foam sticking right - take the top half of the paper off before the install, the bottom part after. Finally, they do use 3 feet, instead of 4, and because of that, they need a little extra clearance from furring strips (assuming a square orientation). Overall, we were happy with the cans, and found them to be good value. December 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best The best i am very happy Easy to install and a good price December 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Could be better This is not an entirely bad light fixture overall, but it has some bad features. For instance, the metal flange that is supposed to anchor the fixture against the ceiling is not big enough to hold the light very securely (it's just barely big enough to grab the drywall and keep the light from disappearing into the attic), especially if you cut the hole to the exact dimension of the template that comes with the fixture. So, either cut the hole a little smaller than the template for a tighter fit, or get a fixture with a larger metal flange. Also, the slider that allows you to adjust the height of the bulb is pretty cheesy. If I could do it over again, I would spend more money for a more substantial fixture. December 6, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Can Ever! WOW! This is the best can ever. Very stylish, looks perfect in my living room. September 16, 2014
