Great price, and easy to install, both were important because I installed many of them. The trim allows you to see more of the inside of the housing than I like, but for the price that's not that big of a deal.

This was my first job installing recessed lighting into my own home and I learned a few things along the way. I initially thought the price was fantastic because it included trim. However, I was sorely disappointed with the trim because it was 1) plastic and 2) didn't hide the metal can.
I am using dimmable CFLs in these lights and they do not hide the metal at all, which makes it look terrible in my opinion. I had to purchase separate metal trims that were the fully covered cone type ($8/each).
Therefore, I would opt for the other CE contractor 6-pack (~$34/6 cans) that just includes the IC cans and purchase the trim separately. Both can be purchased individually, of course, if you don't need a 6-pack.
I installed these in my home w/o any major problems. I was working up in the attic, so it was easy to nail these into the studs. Still need to work on the electrical installation, but that doesn't look too difficult.

Be careful with these!! The trim that comes with the pack does not fit the regular R30 Flood Lights. The Opening in the base of the trim is so large, that with an R30 Bulb installed you can still see the metal interior of the fixture. Still a pretty good deal but if you want it to look nice you will end up needing to use the R40 Bulbs which are much more expensive or purchasing separate trim for each light you install!!!

I purchased the 6 in. IC Airtight Lighting Contractor 6-pack to add addt'l. lighting to my bedroom. Having used and installed other brands of recessed lighting, I have some basis for comparison. These are new construction housings, but since I have access to the ceiling joists from the attic, I used these instead of more expensive old work housings. These recessed housings are similar to the 6" HALO-brand housings, but the top cap is a more flimsy and dents easily. Take care when crawling around your attic space not to kick the housing w/ your foot or it will dent. Also, it's apparent that little care was taken by the manufacturer to ensure the insulating foam tape that serves to keep the housing air tight is in the correct place. This is a small detail that doesn't affect performance of the light, and the energy loss from a pin hole is negligible, but I found it necessary to adjust every piece of foam tape so that it was actually covering a hole. That said, the quick electrical connections are very convenient and the included baffles are the same quality as those retailng for $7-$8 each. The baffle trim is plastic. I prefer metal, which doesn't warp or discolor over time due to UV, but this contractor combo pack is an excellent deal if you're looking to add recessed lighting on a budget since the baffles are more or less included for free. Installation is the same as any other new contruction recessed housing. I give this a 4 out of 5 because of the lack of quality control with respect to placement of the insulating foam tape and the thin top caps. After they are installed, they look as good as more expensive recessed lights and will accept any 6" trim, if you decide not to use the included white baffles.

Best when installed during a gut renovation. The housing is easier to use. We tried other systems but they did not worked the same way. Happy with our purchase.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by theRVK Easy install for a DIY project
I picked 12 of these fixtures up to replace the 3 shop lights that were installed in my basement family room. The fixtures were easy to install in my drop ceiling. The adjustable arms clipped right on to the frame and were easy to move into the correct position. The color coded quick connectors made running electrical a breeze.
I wish I would have tackled this project years ago, the room looks so much more homey now. Don't be intimidated by swapping out your old lights. These cans make for a great weekend project for the DIY'er.
