Rated 1 out of 5 by It's going back to the store I already have two multi-testers I haven't been able to figure out. I bought this one hoping it would be simpler. The manual says to test DC volts turn the switch to "DCV". That setting doesn't exist. Neither does "ACV" that it says to turn the dial to for AC voltage measurement. I'm in the same spot as before, because I can't find the meaning of the symbols A--- and A~. It's going back to the store. July 7, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by CE Multimeter Mod M1015B Lasted one year and quit functioning in all modes. VERY VERY light use. New battery? Yes, tried that immediately. Very simple device, why would it quit??? June 22, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Instruction book translated from gibberish to layman's English The line with the wave (left side) is AC. The dashed one is DC. Second, yep you need a small phillips head to install battery. Pretty self explanatory there. Works if checking batteries with it set on dashed (right) side when I checked the batteries from the TV remote. Tested it setting 250 on the wave squiggle side and it read 125 by plugging it into an extension cord, then plugging that into a wall. It's a heck alot cheaper than commercial rates that contractors charge. Still a better deal than lottery tickets too. I might consider getting some extra fuses for it. Good if you rarely ever use one and not interested in spending $45. I got it to work for at least 2 hours so far. Just remember to turn it if off I guess. November 27, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible manual. I really do feel the need to echo everyone else's frustrations with the manual. It is next to useless. The only thing the manual effectively explains is how to test batteries. Additionally, I am disappointed in Home Depot's turnaround time on this. It's October of 2013. Home Depot acknowledged the problem over a year and a half ago. They responded to user Rembrandt's review that he wrote on 2/8/12. It says: "Response from Home Depot THD Customer Service February 10, 2012 Thank you for your feedback. Mastech is aware of the issue with the instructions and is working on updating the manuals. THD Customer Service" So what happened, Home Depot? October 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value if you don't need instructions This meter works well, and what a fantastic bargain! Having used similar meters before, I didn't need to read the instructions. I used it as an ohmmeter (to check fuses), an AC ammeter to check line voltage, and as a battery tester. I appreciate the fact is has an analog display, not digital. I took a look at the instructions and realized that a novice could not possibly learn to use a meter with these instructions. But in my case, no need, the meter does what I want it to do.
