Rated 1.7 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Manual incorrect, functions improperly Unimpressed. The manual is incorrect in multiple places (e.g. what button to press to change modes, what icon will display when you are in a given mode) and missing other important information (e.g. no information whatsoever on what settings to use for non-contact voltage detection). There are two red LEDs which I infer are indicators that it is in non-contact voltage sensing mode. In proximity to a voltage source, they get a little brighter. However, these do not stay off, even when the unit is completely turned off they keep flickering back on and stay on. They do not shut off even after hours. So they are bound to kill the batteries. I plan to return this and get something else. March 1, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by paperweight Hardly worth $5. Don't drop the tiny screw either when trying to check the batteries or it's a paperweight. April 12, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent but has some flaws The good- -Auto ranging feature works well. -Shorted probes have .1 ohm of resistance which is good for a meter in this price range. -Good quality probes and the clips for them on the rear of the meter are handy. The bad- -Runs through batteries. -The LED light is useless. -The voltage proximity sensor has no off state, so even if you have the meter packed away but near a voltage source, it will drain the batteries in a day or two. This is the biggest issue with this meter. Wall wiring, a power strip, a piece of equipment or a DC wall wart lead will cause the meter to light up. Unless you are religious about storing this in a place away from a voltage source, look for another meter. Aside from this (glaring) flaw, it's decent. April 21, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste Bought two units one for myself and daughter to do a school project, and units performance was horrible, my unit wouldn't measure vdc and her unit couldn't measure continuity, returned to store next day March 19, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor design and functionality Bought this as I was in quick need of an inexpensive multimeter. Inherent design flaws and overall user unfriendliness is making me return it. 1. Battery compartment door is held solely by a single tiny screw. When under tension with batteries in it, the door can pop out when you loosen the screw and fling it to parts unknown. A major annoyance. They should have also incorporated a snap tab on the door itself. 2. The screen is very cluttered and symbols are small and crammed close to the edges of the screen. Even with a good light source directly on it, the display is very difficult to read. 3. Most inexplicably, there are two LEDs on the top of it that flash intermittently regardless of the meter's setting (I still don't know exactly what they do; the manual is sorely lacking) and won't go off even after you turn the unit off. Effectively draining the battery. 4. Has a built-in LED flashlight which is ridiculous. They should have made it so that pressing the light button illuminates the hard-to-read display. 5. Probes are hard wired and not removable/user replaceable. In itself, not a deal breaker but something to note. In a nutshell: avoid this multimeter and get something else. March 26, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by drains battery, then fails altogether Every time I went to use this, the AAA batteries were dead even though I turned it off between uses. The battery case is closed with a tiny screw that pops off and is easy to lose. After a few months the unit failed completely. Cheap digital piece of junk. Probes are pencil-like with no option for clips. Might as well roll up two 20$ bills and light them on fire. January 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Leave it on the shelf. I got this because I wanted a continuity tester. I have to cradle the thing between my shoulder and my ear to hear the tone unless I'm in a dead silent environment. Recently I tried testing capacitors with it. Couldn't get it to give me the same reading twice in a row, even on the new ones. If I can find my receipt I'll take it back. If you're checking the reviews on this before you buy it; congratulations! You dodged this mistake. Keep your $35 and invest in better quality. July 8, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Worth It! Used it for my RC hobby and it just stopped working after less then a year. Changed the batteries and still dead. I also hated the dark green letters on a black background, made to really hard to read. August 9, 2014
