Customer Questions & Answers

How much do I need?

Wish the detail of the product included how much is needed to properly treat a tree. For instance, there should be a formula on the container explaining how much product to dump on a tree based on the circumfrance of the base of the tree. Without that information, one could not possibly guess how much to buy. I need it for Emerald ash borer protection on three ash trees. All three trees are about 50 inch diameter a piece. So I need enough product to treat 150 inches of diameter.

I also wish I had the directions before I ordered, but was able to do 3 of my 4 trees with one gallon. Measure trunk circumference at chest height, and add that many ounces to one gallon of water, and pour around trunk. If two or more trunks per tree, add circumferences together and multiply by 0.75.

does this product kill all bugs in trees and bushes

Asked by: art
My understanding is that this product is for fungal infections. We purchased it to kill a fungal infection in our Sago Palm. When sprayed it is good for approx 12 months. It cured our problem. Hope this helps.

how good is this

Will this kill butterflies that get nectar from the flowers or harm humming birds. Have a bad aphid problem and don't want to hurt butterflies.

I got what I was hoping for, directions were straightforward, and had enough in one gallon to treat 3 of 4 of my trees. Hopefully it was not too late in the year. I will see next year if it helps. Guess the one tree will be the control, but will do that one next spring. Fingers crossed that this helps, trees are looking sad.

Even though I checked the box asking that my name NOT be put on any mailing list, hardly a day has gone by since then that I have not received some piece of junk mail or other from Home Depot. I tried unsubscribing but it had no effect. So, yes, I would recommend the product but no, I would not recommend buying it on line from Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Deal I have been using the the Compare 'N Save Systemic Tree & Shrub Insect Drench brand of Imidacloprid from Home Depot to protect my 10 ash trees from the emerald ash borer yearly since May 2013. Last summer I noticed that the untreated ash trees not on but adjacent to my lot are showing signs of deterioration, e.g. thin foliage, and some have even died and have been cut down. However, in the summer of 2015 my treated ash trees looked quite good. There seem to be no guarantees when trying to stop the emerald ash borer, but so far I am very pleased with the results from my treatments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my Green Ash tress alive! I use this to protect my large Green Ash trees from the EAB plague. I have used this for a couple of years now with GREAT success. The untreated trees in my area have been devastated, but mine look as healthy as they did before this threat became reality. To use effectively, I bore MANY holes in the ground at the base of the trees, from as close to the trunk as I can get, up to 12" away. The holes are approx. 6-8" deep each. I then mix the insecticide as recommended on the label, and pour around the base of the tree, filling the holes, and saturating the ground. I have found this method to be most effective---like I said, my trees are thriving while those around have died. I realize that going forward, the treatment of my trees using this insecticide will be an annual ritual, but it is worth it to protect my beautiful ash trees!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, definitely would recommend, but didn't include the dosage instructions I used this product last week on my 3 white ash trees that are about 12 years old. I paid to have an arborist come out and he said my trees were showing signs of having the Emerald Ash Bore. It would have cost me $235 to have him treat the trees. This product was substantially less plus I had enough left over to treat my shrubs in front of the house. One has been struggling and the other 3 were beginning to show signs of the same problem--balding spots and dying/splitting branches. Something appeared to be killing them from the inside-out. The product was easy to apply, mixing it with a gallon of water, (the concentration depends on the circumference of trees and the height of shrubs), digging a trench 6" out from the base of the trees and shrubs to expose the roots. Within 15 minutes of applying this product, I had already noticed the shrubs had begun to "perk up" a little. Within 2 days, a substantial difference was noticed, and new growth beginning to occur on the shrubs. It's too early to notice anything improvement with the trees yet--The arborist recommended it be applied before April 1st to be effective, and there are no leaves on the trees yet. Instructions say it could take up to 3 months to see results on larger trees. I'm very pleased with the results I've seen on my shrubs so far and am looking forward to seeing results on my trees. My trees were at the very beginning stages at showing signs of damage (one or two branches at the top lost leaves early last fall). One side note--the arborist said I could double the recommended concentration of product, so that's what I did to achieve my results. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 was because I had to locate the dosage instructions myself online. I was sent all this literature about product safety--what to do if I got it on my skin or in my eyes, notices from the EPA about not to use the product near streams, blah, blah, blah. That did me absolutely no good without the dosage instructions because I'd never a apply a product not knowing the correct concentration and amount of it to apply. The dosage instructions are not listed on the bottle.
