Customer Questions & Answers

Im trying to prevent people from outside to see inside. Will I still be able to look outside from inside?

Asked by: Kat
Hi Kat, Our Frosty® Privacy liner will allow light to filter through but you will not be able to see in or out. How direct the sun hits the window can affect the brightness but you will still not be able to see through. Thank you for your interest in our products. Regards, Kittrich Team

Will this provide the same privacy as a glass block window?

I have a clear window in a shower that I want to make semi-transparent rather than try to install a curtain.
Asked by: Ed
Ed - It will certainly add an amount of privacy to your shower window. However, if the liner gets wet consistently it could deteriorate the adhesive backing quite quickly. It will adhere best to a totally clean window. Hope this helps!

Frosty Clear Adhesive Shelf Liner is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive privacy film In my bathroom, I have two large sliding glass windows. Because of their large size and proximity to my neighbor’s house, my wife wanted more privacy. Curtains would not work because of shower. Latex paint in the glass would not work because we didn’t want to completely block the sunlight. Etching the glass with mild acid was out of my skill set. Window films are too expensive. The frosted Con-Tact paper was just the right product. It’s easy to install. If you make a mistake, you can reposition the sheet. It provided the level of privacy without totally blocking the sunlight. Best, it’s not too expensive. With one roll, there is enough material to cover two full size double-hung windows.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, but totally wrong for the specific use I had in mind Good product. Unfortunately NOT at all what I needed. This clearly is an 'off-label' use of the product, but I wanted to share my experience in the hope that others could benefit. I hoped this 'frosty' Con-tact film was a matte-finish product I could apply on the outside of windows in a theatre set to eliminate glare from theatre lights. I placed my order online for store pickup because there were just a few rolls shown in-stock at my nearest store, and I didn't want to make a 40-mile round trip only to find the product was sold out. When I picked up the product, I was dismayed to find that the 'frosty' product was not an overall smooth matte finish, but actually many small parallel lines arranged in small diamond shapes. I hoped that the lines and diamond shapes would not be visible from the front row of the audience, just 12 feet away. I measured and carefully cut the film for the 18 window panes. I applied it gently, peeling about 1/2 of the backing away, lining up the longest edge, and used the edge of a credit card, starting from the middle of the pane, smoothing outward in all directions, to adhere the film place without stretching, and without air bubbles. I also found that it was easy to reposition the film when I badly mis-judged the initial alignment. I also discovered that even a tiny edge of glass not covered by the film still produced a great amount of glare, so I had to re-cut several pieces a bit larger. So, the Con-Tact Frosty film DID reduce glare, but now there was another problem. When applied to the outside of the windows on the theatre set, it did reduce the glare, but gave the windows the appearance of those 'security windows' with embedded wire mesh. Applying the film to the outside of the windows also nearly obscured the curtains behind the windows. Con-Tact paper was simply NOT going to accomplish what I wanted with the effect and appearance I needed. The next day, I found that the film could be easily removed without leaving much residue behind. We eventually solved the glare problem by using a commercial spray adhesive recommended by another theatre. The adhesive is a temporary solution suitable only for a theatre. The adhesive will be a real pain to remove from the glass (nail polish remover is suggested) once the play is over, but it gave us the matte appearance we were hoping for and removed the glare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product has saved me time and money over and over This product looks like a frosted window pane. I have used it in my personal home and on many income properties. The best privacy for the best price. For eg. I've placed it on the windows of my garage, half way up my bathroom windows, so that I can leave the blinds open for light, both sides of my front door sidelights rather than paying for either curtains or new glass, many times on my income properties in the basement bedrooms for students, so that they have both light and privacy. It is a beautiful addition to any house when added to "stage" a house. Can't go without it. Been using if for at least 25 years. My mother who also does properties has been using it since if first came out probably more than 30 years. By the way, I am a women and can put this product on windows faster than the speed of light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value & easy to use. The product does as advertised. Was easy to cut and install on the window. The ruled cut lines on the product really helped during the installation.
