Customer Questions & Answers

Could I use this over my Windows to keep heat in and cold out a little bit ???

I have two windows that lose heat too much. I'm hoping to 'Slow down' the heat loss when that area is being heated.
Asked by: Ed
Use Visqueen, (plastic sheeting) allows the light in and creates a dead space of air. Which is what you're trying to do by insulating the window.

can I attach this to a wall in m kitchen to use as board to tack pictures, papers etc for display

Asked by: nana
Most likely not. It would give the appearance of a cork board, but you'd essentially be pinning things into your wall, as this liner is thin... less than 1/8" thick. Also, because of that thickness, it crumbles and would chip off when you attached and unattached your items. This is a good shelf liner, but that's probably it's best function.

I have some antique crystal liquor bottles with cork around the glass stopper can I use this material to recork my necks

Crystal stopped with thin cork band
Asked by: Ashley
Possibly. I take it is a simple gasket washer made of cork. If it's originally stick on, then yes. If not, still possible but the preferred is the type without a sticky back to it. Check thickness of the original and compare. This cork sheeting is 1/16th inch thick.

Customer Reviews

Specialty Coverings Cork Adhesive Shelf Liner is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Finished Result Just Ok I bought this with the hope that it would be a nicer looking alternative to typical contact paper patterns, and that it would be a softer liner for my glass and ceramic dishes. It hasn't met my expectations. The installation was more difficult than other liners, as the other reviews have stated. If you even slightly bend it, it breaks. If you aren't unrealistically cautious in pulling back the backing, it chips (see photo), and at this cost per roll, wasting a piece is a costly concern. After the tedious install, it still doesn't perform as you would hope cork liner would. It crumbles at the front edge of the shelf, it isn't much softer than the unlined shelf, and the texture is rough to the touch. The only upside is that it does look nicer than most contact papers. With that being the only positive element, I can't recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cork liner used in drawers I recently lined kitchen drawers and shelves with cork lining. It provides a cushioned surface for china and glassware thus avoiding chips; it is easy to clean; it is attractive. Installation requires careful measuring and handling. Use a sharp knife (craft knife or a box cutter with fresh blades). Use spray adhesive to augment the adhesive backing. Cork lining is well worth the effort it requires to fit and install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I am working on doing some small touch-ups to my kitchen. I decided to replace the old cabinet liners with this cork liner. It looks great, easy to wash, and keeps a natural look!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good; difficult to cut/peel The corkboard is really thin, which is wonderful for lining shelves. However, this makes peeling the backing paper off a bit difficult. If you don't do it just so, the adhesive stays half-on the paper and the cork crumbles. It looks great once applied, and it seems to stick really well. Just be careful cutting and peeling to avoid crumbles.
