Perfect size, nice color. But after getting it all put together, we noticed that the top shelf (the one you see,) has scratches & places where the wood grain is bad or coming off. I would have asked for an exchange, but we noticed it when we finished putting it together & it was my Christmas gift. I needed to get the books off of the floor for safety sake.

I bought three different sizes of this bookshelf to put along the wall below our staircase. The 6' shelf arrived damaged... twice!.. but the 3' and 4' are wonderful. They were easy to put together, look very nice, and seem sturdy enough. The 3' and 4' shelves are a very good value.

The directions were fairly easy to follow and the book shelf went together quickly. We also purchase a drawer to replace one of the shelves. The directions for the drawer were not as clear, poor quality pictures without any explanation. the drawer was much deeper than I anticipated and the drawer pull did not fit with the hardware given. I would recommend the shelf unit and drawer with reservations. Be prepared to figure it out on your own.

Two pieces came damaged. Called company. They were very nice & said they would send
replacements. They arrived but were a different color wood than the original. Called the company
again & was told to take a picture of the two different wood colors & send them a picture with
an explanation of what we needed. Haven't heard back from them yet. This is too much work
for a $168.00 bookcase. Guess you get what you pay for. If all the pieces were o.k., the bookcase
would be o.k.

I am pretty disappointed in the quality of these shelves. After much looking, I ordered two of these to use as toy shelves in a room that is also a study and TV room because they are the exact size I needed, the color I wanted, and they look like regular furniture. They were available only online. If I had been able to see/touch them before purchasing them, I would not have bought them.
The assembly instructions were easy to follow. It took me a couple of hours to assemble them. They are heavy and sturdy and some with the hardware to secure them to the wall, important for the safety of my grandchildren. However, as other reviewers mentioned, the back is very thin and flimsy. In the assembly instructions, the back is listed as one piece, but is actually three separate pieces held together by clear packing tape on the back. I removed the tape because it was just slapped on there and the pieces weren't lined up correctly. Some of the pieces are bowed. The back side of the back is rough and completely unfinished. Fortunately, I planned to put them against a wall. Not surprisingly, the back panels look very shabby. Also the workmanship on the rest of the unit is not very precise. Pieces don't line up exactly and some of the surfaces are rough requiring some sanding and application of polyurethane. I expected the bookshelves to be much nicer for what they cost.
However, they do serve the purpose of holding toys while not looking like children's furniture, they look fine from a distance, and I don't care if they get scratched up, which they will. And although the bowed back pieces look horrible, they worked out well, allowing the unit to be placed close to the wall in spite of an outlet into which the TV and a power strip are plugged. Also while the bottom shelf looks like it sits on the floor, it doesn't, leaving a space in the back under which we shoved the power strip.
