that's similar to a situation I had - but I did not have a lot of odor. I removed as much of the black mold as I could by scraping it off - and got most of it. The Mold Control stopped any from coming back.

Answer:
Yes, I used it on painted drywall. Spray on generously. Wait at least a day for it to dry and kill the mold/mildew. Scrub with a chlorine bleach mold remover. Spray Concrobium again to reduce future growth. Even better, then use an anti-mold/mildew primer and repaint.

Hi Josh. Thank you for your question and interest in Concrobium products. Concrobium Mold Control is EPA-registered for and effective on both hard and fabric surfaces, including wood, drywall, tile, stone, cement, masonry, fabric, upholstery and virtually any other household surface. This includes the painted surfaces in your bathroom. With any cleaning solution you should always test it on an inconspicuous area first. When Concrobium Mold Control dries on the moldy surface it encapsulates and crushes the cells right down to the root structure of the mold spores. While you may be used to using bleach or bleach-based products that whiten the mold stain, this product contains no bleaches or whiteners so it may require some mechanical action to remove the stain. Concrobium Mold Control is a very effective cleaner, though in some circumstances you may find that the mold stains left on a surface are embedded and very difficult to scrub away. In this case, ensure that the treated surface is completely dry so that the mold spores have been eliminated. You can first try using a Concrobium Mold Control dampened cloth or brush to remove the stains. If the mold stains left on a surface are embedded and very difficult to scrub away, ensure that the treated surface is completely dry so that the mold spores have been eliminated. Use Concrobium Mold Stain Eraser to remove the tough embedded stains. Remember that once the cleaning step is complete it’s important to leave a layer of Concrobium Mold Control on the surface to provide mold resistance. Concrobium Mold Stain Eraser is a powerful cleaning solution that targets mold and mildew stains on outdoor and indoor surfaces. Perfect to remove black mold stains without the toxic chemicals. Concrobium Mold Stain Eraser is not a registered antimicrobial. It does not eliminate or prevent mold growth. Please visit our product page: http://www.concrobium.com/products/stain-eraser/. In most cases the mold has already compromised the paint so you might have to go straight to taking cosmetic steps such as repainting the surface after you have applied Concrobium Mold Control to eliminate the mold. Once the paint has dried for 24 hours then we recommend reapplying the solution to leave a protective film to prevent mold regrowth. Read Less

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Its just baking soda and water It works ok for alot of applications but not everything. All they did was put baking soda and water in a spray bottle, put John Holmes picture on it and charge you $9. HD sells both for a total of $3. If you dont believe me just look at the label. Sodium carbonate is the active ingredient in baking soda. Do yourself a favor go here http://blackmold.awardspace.com/kill-remove-mold.html and figure out the best option for your situation. I found it to be truly helpful. August 1, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't get rid of the mold or smell With all of the humid weather we have been having here lately, my apartment developed a moldy smell. I tracked the moldy smell to the room where the ac/heater unit was located. I purchased 3 of these 32 oz bottles of concrobrium. It did nothing for my moldy smell or the mold. After reapplying multiple times and wasting almost $30 on this, I finally gave up. I didn't want to use bleach because I have bad allergies. Someone recommended Borax. Not only did Borax work miracles for me but it also got rid of the moldy smell and completely killed off all of the mold. In addition the room where my ac unit is located is now completely dry after cleaning it up with Borax. I do believe that there are others who have had success with concrobium so I won't say it doesn't work but I didn't have any luck with it! YMMV July 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mold on exposed bricks inside I have a dog and a bird and I can use this around them . I have terrible allergies to mold and did not know that the brick in my fireplace area not sealed I used this to spray the brick and the odor has gone away it does seem to work and I am going to buy some more of it to do other places in the house that I have . It does not smell and doesn't leave us odor afterwards either . Cannot use bleach on sheet rock to get rid of the mold and this seems to work just like it was advertised to me. but I highly recommend it especially for people with allergies . I am going to buy some more as I do one room at a time in my house which I purchased two years ago but it seems to have stopped mol ds from growing anymore where I have used it May 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Must have mold/ mildew control for every home Concrobium Mold Control 32 oz spray bottle is conveniently sized to treat mold & effectively eliminates and prevents mold. I've used this for years in customers homes as well as my own. I use it to clean up mold and get rid of musty odors & best feature is it has no harmful chemicals. This works as it dries by crushing mold spores at the roots and leaves behind an invisible antimicrobial shield to prevent future mold growth. I use it for water damage clean-up, mold remediation and during renovation (pre-treatment of building materials) and it's great to use just for preventive and general interior maintenance. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by save your money - use vinegar Had green mold growing on my deck rails and posts. Sprayed and waited, sprayed again - nothing. Had to scrub it with cleaning vinegar. I doubt it will keep the mold from returning since I scrubbed everything with vinegar and wiped it dry. June 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing This product works great . A friend recommended it and it performed far better than expected. June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needed fast solution to some mold in a damp basement. This product did the trick. Just spray and let try. Check and if not completely resolved just spray some more and voila GONE! May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AMAZING product!!!! I was very impressed. I bought an ultra lite travel trailer "as is" and decided to do the repairs to the floor myself. I'm not done yet but my point is that the kitchen and bath were awful!!! The bathroom floor was BLACK with mold... this stuff cleaned it up very nicely. I used it several times in the bathroom over the course of a week or two (I'm in no hurry). The floor had to be dried out completely before you can spray this stuff so that was 2 weeks before I even bought it. After I sprayed, I'd give it a day to dry, then repeat over several applications and several days allowing it to completely dry in between.. January 9, 2015
