Customer Questions & Answers

Description says kink resistant, specs say no, which is it?

Asked by: Halfbeard
The answer is NO. I bought the hose about six weeks ago and I do like it, so much so that I am about to buy another. However, if you coil it for storage and then extend it from the coil, you must constantly twist the hose to prevent it from kinking. Remember, this is a true rubber hose and it acts differently from the traditional plastic or vinyl hoses.

Can you leave the water on after shutting off the spray nozzle or will that cause the hose to burst?

Asked by: Skeeter
Hose appears very sturdy and that should not happen.

Premium 5/8 in. Dia x 50 ft. Commercial Grade Rubber Black Water Hose is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 236.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible This is the worst hose I ever owned, if Kink Resistant means all it does is Kink and cause you trouble than OK but all I do is walk back and forth undoing kinks in this thing. Frustrating to use not only with Kinks but whatever material it is made of will leave your hands black after spending 5 minutes laying it out in a straight line so it will work. . I have had it for several years and the only reason it isn't getting a lower grade is it refuses to die! Other hoses have come and gone, bursts and leaking etc... This one has lasted, mostly because I put it way in the backyard and use it occasionally due to how bad it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST I have had the TWO HOSES (Good Year version) for 9 years. No problem. It stays outdoor all year (10 -32 deg winter here). Never have a problem with hose getting too stiff/frozen in winter, washing vehicle in 30 to 40 deg temps. (plastic hoses get too stiff to handle). No problem with kinks either, probably because I do not roll up. I just double up twice over into approx (4) 12 ft lengths. Yes when I bought it, it cost twice as much as the "regular" hoses, but so far, lasted 4 times as long and still going. I will definitely buy again; hopefully the Continential version is as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good commercial hose This is an excellent commercial hose. I have one that I have used in my handyman services business for a year. I use it for my pressure washer and various other task. It has worked for me flawlessly. My home outdoor faucet is attached before the pressure reducing valve so the pressure comes right off the water meter. After bursting several hoses I bought this hose like the one I use for my business. It works great and has handled the high pressure with no problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to say. I titled my review "Hard to say" because I just bought this product a few days ago so it's hard to say whether or not it will stand the test of time (HD send me the online request to complete this survey too soon in my opinion). I did however give the product 4 stars on my own though. I've purchased these all rubber hoses before and have had good luck with them. Stay away from the ones making all the big long lasting promises due to multi-layers. Those are the worst ones in my experience. All rubber is the way to go. Look for Goodyear or Continental...any of the car tire brand rubber kinds have worked well for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Continental ContiTechPremium 5/8 in. Dia x 50 ft. Commercial Grade Rubber Black Water Hose I have not owed this hose long so I did not give it five stars. Before buying I check out the reviews It seem the biggest problem people has with the house is it kinking and boy Howdy did it ever. but just like one person said it has to do with the way it was rolled. the fist thing i did was to unroll it making sure I got all the kinks out then I place it were It will be store by making large loops. When I go to use it I make sure I undo it the some way. As of yet no trouble with it. Time will tell how long it last, As fare as hose goes, I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hose available. I have used many garden hoses, as i am sure everyone else has also. This is the only hose i have not had to replace. it is always flexible in any weather, even below freezing. it is difficult to kink, but when it does, it recovers well, it doesnt stay more likely to kink again in that spot. it also will not rot in the sun. i leave it outside all the time and there are no signs of rotting. the only thing i would say is that in the summer, water running through it in the sun gets hot enough to scold. so just be prepared for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no permanent kinks, ever This the 4th one I've bought (all still in service, I have a big yard and garden). If you wrap it in a knot and pull on it, it will kink shut (so will any hose). But with this hose - - unlike non-rubber hoses - - you can do again and again and again, and the hose will never develop a permanent kink. Only negative I can see: wow, does that black rubber get hot on a summer day. I wish they offered a 3/4-inch version, preferably 100-ft long.

This is the kind of real RUBBER hose (NOT vinyl) that you'll see in commercial kitchens, or auto service garages, etc. - it's quite heavy, and I think it would be pretty hard to kink. It flexes easier than a vinyl hose, and doesn't flatten as easily as a vinyl hose. Most people over 50 years old will be very familiar with these, or if you served in the military, you'll remember these. Overall, it seems like a very high-quality hose.
