Answer:
The only thing I can see are shapes. My beautiful view is gone, but for only 5 months out of the year, if it will lower my horrible AZ electric bills, I will live with it.

I bought the heavy duty (90% UV) weight and you cannot see through it. Maybe the light or medium weight.

I want to take it to Europe to use on my boat, but it would be too large to pack, so I would have to fold it in half and re-roll it so it would only be 3 feet wide. Do you think that would work?

If I cut the fabric should I do something with the edges so they don't unravel?

I would like to use the fabric in 36" strips to weave between horizontal 1/2" balusters on our outdoor railings. Each section of railing will have it's own shade fabric weaved through it. I would cut 36" strips and Velcro them in place.... but I'm concerned that the fabric will unravel or fray. Is there a way to edge it so that doesn't happen?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Energy saver by adding shade to your space The product was high quality as described, thick and strong. the shade it creates is solid and it feels cooler. August 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it claims This shade cloth does shade the sun off my house. Before the shade cloth, the inside of my kitchen cabinets were so hot, that it melted my butter I keep at room temp. for easy spreading. Now, I don't feel any heat at all. My only downside, is that I now I don't any view at all, it is so thick, that I can just make out shapes, no view. Also, the breeze doesn't get through either. I bought it to shade my house from the excessive Arizona Sun, and it is definitely doing that. Only been up for 3 weeks, so can't wait until I see my hopefully lower electric bill. I only need them up for 5 months out of the year. Definitely keeps the sun out. July 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing The web page and manufacturer's website do not disclose country of origin. Only after I ordered it, did it say Made in china on the packaging. Very dissappointed. August 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by does the job Used as a patio cover the product blocks the UV rays providing shade and lower temp on patio. June 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Block Heat for cooler house I bought this Coolaroo shade cloth which I believe is called knitted tape/tape. I made skylight covers from it. I cut a 6' X 65" piece and sewed a pocket around it in which I threaded a bungee type cord through. We put it on the outside of our skylight. It has lowered the temperature in our sunroom approximately 10 to 15 degrees. We also made a patio cover from it that can be removed when necessary. There is a shiney side and a dull side. I emailed the coolaroo.com and asked which side should face the sun, and they said it was a personal preference. It didn't make any difference on the heat factor. June 23, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is good stuff I bought this to replace the shade cloth on my back patio cover that had been there for quite some time. It was easy to install, as it laid flat and didn't curl up much at the edges, so I was able to complete the installation by myself without having to have a second person pull it tight. The night after I installed it, the Santa Ana winds kicked up some 50mph gusts and not a single piece pulled loose or showed any kind of signs of distress. May 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Coolaroo 6ft x 100 ft UB Block Wheat Shade Cloth I had bought a different kind of shade and this one works so much better really good product it really shade from the sun September 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very versatile fabric with many uses. Made shade screens for wooden house that faced SE. The heat generated by sun through single pane glass was like a furnace. After the shade screens (mounted with thumb tack) the rooms were kinda dark and cool. Will take them down for winter and enjoy the warm and light. Bought a dog bed made of the same material. Tater loves it. Coooool ! Sam Atlanta Ga_ September 6, 2011
