Answer:
Cooleroo material is open weave and definitely not waterproof. It would not be appropriate for keeping out rain.

Answer:
This item provides excellant shade coverage but because it is a weave water does go through as well as the breezes. It will prohibit some of the rain but not a downpour.

Absolutely. This material is great to work with and the shade factor is great - while it still allows light in.

Answer:
The shade cloth is an open weave, so the thread or ties just loop through any hole in the weave. By going one row in from the edge for thread, and maybe two rows for ties, there is plenty of 'hold' in the fabric to avoid tearing out. The thread and ties are for fastening to a frame. If one intends to just have corner fastenings with clips, I would advise doubling over the corner for the clip holding. I Read More

Answer:
Please note our fabric has holes that allow the fabric to breath and keep you cooler underneath. Please visit our website at coolaroousa.com under DIY (Do It Yourself-Outdoor Projects-How to Insall Shade Fabric) for ideas. The Butterfly clips fasten around something like fencing or cable and then clip into the fabric on both sides.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly What We Wanted We needed a material that was light weight enough to allow light and air through - but protective enough to keep the hot sun and even light rain out. And this material did it. The rolls were easy to roll out and cut to fit our needs and the material and color are very attractive. We have four shades that when opened, cover a 24' X 12' area. Allowing us a great place to entertain under in either light rain or blaring sun. And since we designed it so they can roll up under the house eves they can stay there all year around. April 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works well as shade on my deck Ordered the same one last year. It was on my pergola all winter and still looks great after the awful winter we had. Ordered another one to shade the rest of the deck. Was disappointed that it was a different shade of tan and was 4ft shorter. Don't know if that was my mistake but I thought I ordered the exact same thing ....I did have to cut it width wise and it worked great. June 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great find This indoor/outdoor fabric was hard to find. The weave lets air filter through while filtering the light. I have three shades made of this material on my porch at home. Lasts forever and shows no signs of wear. I'll be making a curtain panel for a picture window at a rural camp July 15, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Does not block heat from sun rays I live in Arizona and bought this product to reduce the heat on my porch. It lets through a fair amount of light and heat and does not keep the porch cool AT ALL. I have used product from Phifer before (more expensive), which does protect against UV rays and reduces the heat. June 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Blocks heat and uv rays Bought this for windows that face east overlooking the pool. During the summe, the sun beats in on the windows so I purchased this to reduce the heat inside the room. Great quality and easy to work with. I purchased a gromet tool so I could attach the cloth to existing hurricane shutter bolts affixed around the windows. Can be easily removed during the winter months when the sun is welcomed to heat up the room. This is the best shade cloth on the market. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We have used this shade cloth in the past and have always been pleased with the ease of installation, and how it lasts for years. Replaced an existing shade cover. Looks great and the color goes well with the house. July 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great to shade my chicken coop Works great to shade my chicken coop. I cut panels, sewed a sleeve at the top so that I can hang them on a small pipe for shade. June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by home made lanai curtains I used the shade cloth into curtains hung up on dowel rods and placed on hooks screwed into the lanai wood. It works great. You can see out but the curtains provide privacy and shade when looking into the lanai. I also fashioned tie backs but rarely use them since the cool cloth can be seen through. February 21, 2014
