Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Dadofwag Blocks light effectively and is light and easy to install
I installed the coolaroo exterior roller shade on a purpose-built pergola to shade our back patio. The shade is very easy to install, but make sure the the opening is the exact width required. It's lighter than you'd think and can be handled by one person. The sun is entirely blocked by the shade. While there are no obvious defects it's so lightly constructed, I suspect it will only last 3-5 seasons.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Shadowman Does What They're Supposed To Do
Easy to install (after the 1st one). Just followed directions, measuring carefully.
Loosened/turned the 'Brake Screws' 1 full turn (counterclockwise) so as to not break the plastic chain for raising/lowering.
Using bungee cords for anchoring the bottom w/ mild tension, repeats, mild tension (keep them from blowing around in the breezes). Raises (retracts) them in breezes in excess of 10mph +/-. You'll know when to.
My Coolaroo exterior shades range in size from 48" x 72" to 120" x 96", total of 5 up at this time. The larger, heck, we could place them on a sailboat & be in Hawaii in 3 days, the way they catch the breezes.
This array of shades keeps the interior room temperature 10 - 18 degrees cooler which allows the ac to consume less electricity + providing some additional privacy.
May add more to this review in time. Time of service/durability is a semi unknown factor as the original set purchased have only been up for a year. They have weathered well so far.
I live near Phoenix, AZ, btw. It gets a tad warm here during the summertimes.
Now, Kudos for store service:
Mgr Ryan Oda, Store # 420, is the reason I spent nearly $1k with Home Depot during the recent weeks. He is a credit to Home Depot. I have observed him work w/ clients, w/ staff members, dealt w/ him personally & found him an excellent organizer, communicator, exceptionally knowledgeable person who effectively accomplishes in necessary areas, even those that may not have been thought of previously. I know from experience, more than likely, Home Depot is not paying this gentleman near enough $$$$$$ for his services to the Corporation.
Staff members Corey, Tom, & Rick deserve recognition & very positive kudos for work/assistance well accomplished.
My thanks/kudos to all of this team.

This past weekend I had this shade installed and I LOVE it. I have a shaded porch but absolutely no privacy from neighors who are constantly entertaining and hanging outdoors. The shades are wonderful because they give instant privacy, curb appeal and I really like the see through fabric. The only problem I forsee would be the hardware, I do not see longevity down the road. The shade itself is very nice, but the brackets and plastic cord is not high-end, but considering the price I paid and what I got in return makes it worth the risk. If I get 3 years out of it, it will be money well spent.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Budman Very nice blind, good quality.
We got free delivery, it comes in a 10-1/2 foot cardboard tube. I kept the tube thinking there has got to be some use for it. Instructions are simple and suggest it takes 2 people to install, but with a little ingenuity, one person can put it up in about an hour. I drove in a couple of 6" gutter spikes into the wall to hold it into the position where I wanted to mount it. I sat it on top of the spikes. That way no measuring was necessary. I marked the cranking bracket hole slots, drilled some pilot holes and then mounted that bracket firmly. I slid the blinds into the bracket, then went to the snap-in end and loosely mounted that bracket to allow to allow for slight adjustment. Once it was fitted up I snugged up the screws, and voila, it was mounted. Then I removed the spikes and it was ready to roll, literally.
Very good quality, it works great. It's semi-transparent, so you don't really loose your view. I put it up to block the winter winds on our patio and it does a good job, just make sure you use the bungees at the bottom to hold it in place. It lowers and raises with ease and it's a very nice looking blind. The fabric seems very durable and I expect it will last many years.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Andrea Very Happy With the Coolaroo Shade
I am very happy with the Coolaroo shade, as it has exceeded all of my expectations. I purchased the shade for my patio to keep the patio area cooler for my dog as well as to reduce the afternoon sun that pierces into my apartment. The shade is just perfect -- reduces both the light and the heat, reduces the wind, and creates awesome privacy (you can see out, but others cannot see in). The shade was very easy to install. The mounting brackets are adaptable (by changing the position of four small screws), allowing one to mount the shade from above or from the side. The shade includes an adjustable pull cord, which can be mounted on the left or right side of the shade, based on one's needs. And the tension on the pull cord is adjustable through the tightening or loosening of four small screws. The shade comes with optional tie downs, which have proved helpful with light winds. Shipping took longer than I expected (3 weeks), but after receiving the very long and bulky package, I understand why special shipping was required. The shipping company was very nice and accommodating. The two gentlemen who delivered the package called the morning they were in route and offered to call me closer to the delivery time, so that I could meet them and sign for my shade. OVERALL, A WONDERFUL HD SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. I highly recommend this shade and HD.
