Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job easily! I'm not sure how anyone can give this tool a bad review. You need a little hand strength to squeeze it but it cuts right through the copper rings. The second "cut" bends the ring open for easy removal. The ingenius design prevents the jaws from damaging the barbs of the fitting, all while a portion of the pex tube is still secured in place. I think if anyone has had trouble with it working, they had the cutting jaw on the wrong side: the skinny jaw goes inside the tube while the cutting edge goes on the outside (otherwise you're trying to cut through the brass fitting...not going to happen). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked Perfectly Easy to use. Durable. Worked perfectly. I'm not strong and was able to use this. July 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paid for itself its already paid for itself in saving and reusing fittings - cut close to the end of the fitting - then first bite snaps the band second bends it easy to remove the reuse and save the cost of a new fitting April 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOES NOT WORK ON 1/2' RING I invested in this tool and other Sharkbite brand PEX related tools when I decided to re plumb my house after an issue with a broken pipe in my slab built home. I was happy with everything but the crimp ring removal tool. I made a couple of bad crimps while doing this job and I noticed right away the crimp ring removal tool didn't work at all for me. It started out as no big deal to me I just grabbed a new fitting and kept going with the job. Close to the end of the job I was short two 3/4 x3/4 x1/2 T fittings and it is 9:00pm, too late to go back to home depot and I really wanted to finish that day. So I pick up the two fittings I discarded and was determined to get those rings off. What I noticed was the tool worked great on the 3/4" rings but not at all on the 1/2" rings. I mean not at all! I tried it every way I could think of. I finally came to the conclusion that the different thickness of the 3/4" PEX vs the 1/2" PEX tubing was the issue. I cut the 1/2" rings off with a pneumatic die grinder and cut off wheel. The gap left in the tool when closed was too wide to allow a cut all the way through the 1/2" ring because the tubing was thinner than the 3/4". Basically the tool want close far enough to cut the 1/2" ring. I will be returning this to Home Depot and getting my money back. I have seen a tool online that has a selection for 1/2" or 3/4" rings with good reviews. I will be ordering this one. April 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works perfect this tool when used properly works effortlessly for anyone January 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It works but it's hard It works but will give only 4 stars because it's not easy - you really have to squeeze hard for more than 5 seconds then crimp cuts through. Second cut at 180 degrees actually doesn't go completely through ring - it simply bends ring apart at first cut point to facilitate removal. January 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by everything from sharkbite is quality The biggest part of the negative reviews you might see here is, the fact that in order for this tool to properly work you first need to provide access to the end of the fitting you are trying to remove the crimp ring from and insert the tool into the tube end of the fitting, alot of people are trying to cut the band from the outside of the fitting. Most of the crimp ring removal tools are very effective (sharkbite, conbraco or apollo, sioux chief) The biggest problem is that people think these tools are designed to remove the ring without cutting the tubing first in order to insert the anvil side of the cutter into the inside of the fitting, be it brass, copper or poly. There is alot of information available for pex type plumbing on u-tube. I really recommend people review the project instead of just doing it, it can really save alot of money in damages in the future and most insurance companies are now requesting to physically see the defective part before they will cover a claim because their insurance companies can go after the plumber or deny the home-owner do-it yourselfer. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't work This tool does not cut through the copper ring. It smashes the copper ring which does not work. If you over exert trying to put pressure to cut ring then you end up damaging fitting. Tool does not work. November 28, 2015
