Hello this is Tangelo from the Home Depot Community! The width is 1-1/8", and yes there is adhesive on one side. Here are the instructions from the back of the package:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: This product acts as a barrier to movement by slugs
and snails. Tear off the paper backing from the Copper Tape. Apply to clean, dry
surfaces in areas that are prone to slug and snail infestations such as; greenhouse
benches, raised flower beds, flower boxes, trees, vines, potted and container
plants. Copper Tape may be nailed to wood surfaces if desired. Do not leave gaps
in Copper Tape coverage as these pests may find their way through openings not
protected. Do not allow plants or other objects to bridge Copper Tape as slugs
and snails may cross. Areas that have been enclosed by the Copper Tape may
inadvertently trap these pests. Hand removal or treatment of the enclosed area
using baits may be necessary until area is free of slugs and snails.

Will this tape work for earthworms?

Asked by

October 1, 2012
After a heavy rain last week, our concrete patio had hundreds of earthworms on it. The metal door jamb was completely covered and a few entered the house. Can copper tape be used to keep earthworms off the patio? Or do you have other suggestions?
Thanks!

Answer:
Hello,
Earthworms are very different than slugs and snails. Earthworms are not affected by copper strips the way slugs and snails are. A Lawn and Garden Specialist at your local Home Depot may be able to help you find a product that would work.

Answer:
Hello,
The copper tape barrier will last approximately six months (about one season outdoors). Rain won't reduce the effectiveness of the barrier but dirt and grime will. You will want to clean the barrier off with a washcloth occasionally to keep it working properly.
Thank you

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by copper tape I wrapped my raised beds along the top of the wood and the slugs never crossed it. However, I made sure there were no slugs inside the bed before I wrapped it in the copper tape. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good I have had a problem with either snails or slugs eating the leaves of all the hostas in our garden. I looked online for ways to solve this and copper was mentioned. I went to Home Depot in Watertown to get copper in some form. I asked a guy in the garden section and he came up with this product on his hand held checking thing. I was a little disappointed to find out the product was not available in the store but only online. The store had a product for killing slugs in the form of a powder to sprinkle in garden dirt, but although it said was safe for pets I would not buy it as our dog roams the yard and would not trust that a pesticide was truly safe. I got the copper tape online and put it around the stems of the plants and so far no signs of chewed leaves. I hope this works all summer and if so I would buy it again. I think though that it should be available on the shelf as I think customers would buy it if they see it,especially if they did not want to use pesticides. June 2, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money Although the tape held securely around our citrus trees initially, it soon began to unravel within a few weeks. I don't think it is meant for the hot Florida sun. March 27, 2015
