Customer Questions & Answers

When setting this ladder up for scaffolding, is there a seperate scaffold I must have or is this included?

I have not purchased. Trying to understand the features from the description provided.
Asked by: Anonymous
Split it into the two ladders. Then add your own board between them.

what is the max height as a step ladder

Asked by: graphicsguy
A step ladder is a free standing ladder. One person answer to this question is 17 feet which has to be incorrect. That would be fully extended and leaning against a wall or against a building. IE a 'straight' ladder. Another answer is 85.63 inches (equals ~7.1 ft) . I take it that answer is correct since the 'step' ladder would be half the fully extended ('straight' ladder) height. NOTE: I do not currently own this product.

Concerning ladders, what does maximum reach mean?

Asked by: Bill
The term maximum reach would refer only to the ladder length fully extended in the straight position (not a step ladder which is half the fully extended length). This does NOT refer to a persons ability to physically 'reach' anything.

Does it have the ability to use the ladder on a stair case to reach a lamp?

I am trying to clean a lamp above my staircase, the height is about 6-8feet.
Asked by: Spock
Yes, it does. Actually this is exactly the reason why I purchased it. I needed to install a new light fixture on the ceiling of my stairwell. The ladder worked great by adjusting the two sides differently, to match the steps difference.

17 ft. Aluminum World's Greatest Multi-Position Ladder with 300 lb. Load Capacity is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wanted a ladder that could handle 12 foot ceilings but... Wanted a ladder that could handle 12 foot ceilings but was not too big. This ladder fits the bill. It takes up less space than our 6-foot ladder and is reasonably light. Also, fairly easy to use. Happy with purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised As previous reviews have said, it is a little heavy, the telescoping leg adjustments get difficult to work especially in cold weather and/or when wearing gloves. Also, the hinges that lock it in the open, closed or extension positions are not intuitive and require simultaneous pushing and turning of both knobs all while moving the legs to the next position all at the same time and is best accomplished by 2 people. Other than that, it is great for what it is. Tall, but compact; sturdy, capable of handling heavy payloads and works as a scaffolding, especially if you custom-build a surface that fits between the legs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Safe flat ladder rungs for standing We replaced our previous ladder which had round rungs, with this17' World's Greatest ladder, which has flat rungs. It's easier to stand on a flat surface versus the round rungs and we feel it's safer. The last time I slipped off the old ladder I started looking for this design feature. It's the only one I found and it's both sturdy and comfortable for your feet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I didnt look close enough to the description We had at least four ladders when we bought this and bought this to replace them all. I am big and need every bit of the 300 lb rating so that part is great. However when it said 17ft. I mistakenly took it as that height in the "A" or folded configuration. We were able to replace three but had to keep the 12 footer we had to get on the roof by the woodstove chimney. This is 17 foot or just short of it when opened straight but only about 8 foot give or take when in the folded or "A" configuration. Anyway the capability to setup on stairs or uneven ground is a good attribute also. Wasnt exactly what I wanted but also not extremely disappointed either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality all the way. I purchased this product based on the many rave reviews that were written about it and they were all true. I'm delighted by the ease of use and the many positions this ladder folds & extends into. It is also very sturdy. At the fully extended 17' I felt very safe trimming the ivy from the gutters last weekend. I'm female and weigh approx. 125 lbs so the light weight of this ladder is also a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ladder ! I have a ranch and this ladder made it so easy to paint side of house. Ladder is also lightweight and portable. It fits nicely in my shed and because it folds up, it doesn't take up much space . Great buy and great price

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Stable, solid, versatile and well built. I used it normally, on the stairs and at full length. I'm taking one start out since it has tricky locks at the pivot points. They work fine, but they are not like the other locks that you can visually tell if they are locked or not. Had I realized of that, I had probably favored the Werner ladder. All locks there are the same, easy to operate and their state is visually obvious. However, this ladder is still a good value and I recommend it, especially if you are not as picky as me.
