The cord looks normal so it should be easy to use a lamp on/off switch onto the wire. Do you see any reason why I cant do it?

Answer:
It has an on off switch. You could plug it into a temperature controller which is essentially a thermostat.

It already has an on off switch on the cord. You can plug it into a sliding lamp dimmer to control how warm it gets.

Answer:
It produces about the same heat as a 150w light bulb. It's not designed to heat a room.

Yes it can, even though the instructions say otherwise. I emailed the company and they said it could as long as it is securely attached. You would need to use brackets of some sort. 150-Watt Legs Flat Panel Heater is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more shivering chickens Great for those frosty nights when the temperatures drop low enough to make even the heartiest chicken uncomfortable. Nice space saving design that will accommodate most modest coops. Attractive beak resistant metallic finish. Whisper quiet operation will allow your chickens to sleep undisrupted and keep them warm and rested.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slow and steady This unit takes about a week of constant 24/7 use to really become effective. But the wattage is so low and the safety so high that you can just leave it on. You'll notice that you and everything around you are just a little warmer. And because it's a radiant heat, it feels better. I gave 4 stars because I could use a slightly higher temperature. Well worth the money though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great safe option for a chicken coop We bought this unit as an alternative heat source for our chickens. The red light bulbs we traditionally use can be a bit dangerous if the conditions are not ideal (chicken flying into it or excessive dust build up). We were able to hang it with our own fangled brackets and it has performed very well. There are many times when we find the chickens on their roost butt up against its toasty warmness. There are no nooks nor crannies in which dirt and dust can build up and is easily cleaned with a damp rag. It looks nice and takes up minimal spaced most importantly keeps our birds warm on the coldest of nights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product was exactly as stated in the ad. The Cozy Legs Heater works great under my desk at work. My legs and feet are always the coldest part, so it really helps keep me comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre Heater I purchased this heater to put under my desk to keep my legs warm. I am a paraplegic and have no feeling in my legs. I needed something that wasn't going to get too hot & burn me. I also was looking for something that was quiet. Other heaters with blowers were so noisy that I had to move away from my desk to answer the phone.. I would like for this unit to get a little warmer. The unit I received does not have a high-low switch, just on and off. I am somewhat satisfied with its performance & struggled with choice of recommending to a friend. It's just a notch above mediocre.
