Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Bulbs I have six of these bulbs in my living room and home office lamps and am very satisfied with them. I'm glad that Cree offers a clean, white daylight 5000k version of the bulb since I dislike the yellow-amber color of "soft white" bulbs. The bulb does get warm after its been on a while, but no where near as hot as a tungsten bulb. The base, however, gets scalding hot, hence the cooling fins around it. I don't think an LED bulb generates as much heat as a tungsten bulb, but definately don't touch it after its been on all evening. I'm sold on LED bulbs and am looking forward to the next increase in equivalent wattage bulbs from Cree. July 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The"Standard" All Other Led Bulbs Should Be Compared To I just purchased 20 of these bulbs to replace some compact fluorescent bulbs. I used 10 of them in my garage and all I can say is "WOW", These babies are bright! I have 2 ceiling fans outside under my patio that had 3 candelabra base 800 lumen CFL's in each of them. I replaced the bulb fixtures with the standard sized bulb fixtures and I went from 4800 lumens to 9600 lumens, "WOW" again! and they dim very well. Overall I say these bulbs are Excellent. I rated the value as good because I think it's insane to have to pay $20 for each bulb when you can get a tablet with tons more electronics in them for as low as $49, Anyways I highly recommend them and I wish Home Depot would hurry up and offer them in all stores because they are shooting themselves in the foot by only selling them online. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Earlier this year I replaced my front porch and carriage lights with these bad boys. All I have to say is they are beautifully obnoxiously bright. The front side of my house is probably the brightest on the block. Jets could probably spot my house. I'm talking Clark Griswold Christmas bright! Wattage savings (18W) vs the CFL's (23W) isn't huge - not the typical 50% reduction you see on the 60W Crees (9.5W) vs their CFL counterparts (20W). At 22% less wattage though for lights that are on all night every night - adds up. November 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Led lighting that works very well I have put 18 of these in place of both cfl and incandescent light bulbs in both the kitchen and the Master Bath. The result is a lot of lumens that weren't there before and for 65+ year old eyes the lighting is much better than previously there. At close to $20 each this is a much pricier alternative to CFL or incandescent bulbs but I feel that the light quality is much better and easier to see with and Ithat can go to a brighter bulb because the excess heat produced is so much less. The only remaining concern is how well they will maintain the lumen output level and survive power surges inherent in any residential electric service. That will take a while to see that bulb service life results. Hopefully it will take a long while. May 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best of the bulbs A friend came by the other night to see our new Cree 100w bulbs, which we had installed in our kitchen recessed lighting holders. Her comment was "wow are those bright" and she was right, as we allowed her to compare them with the equivalent EcoSmart bulbs, which were headed shortly thereafter to the trash can. This is what you call a "no brainer". Besides that, Cree is made in the USA. Notice all the other packages say made in China. So much for that, as like a word to the wise ....... August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Bulb I am glad CREE is now offering the 100W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Bulb. The bulb actually provides 1600 lumen (the equivalent of two of their 60W Equivalent bulbs). The price is very good considering what 1600 lumen bulbs were priced even on January 1, 2014. Thanks to CREE and Home Depot for making these available. April 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LED Bulb Used the lights in the service pit for the trucks and all the guys love them. Good and Brite down stairs. May 19, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good light, quality is not, lens cover fail off easily Have about 15 in the house, 4 burned out in couple of months (HD replaced, GOOD), 3 others have their lens cover fall off. I really liked the light out put, but not feeling good about the quality in the long run, 10 years warranty!! I doubt it will last this long... May 12, 2015
