I have six of these bulbs in my living room and home office lamps and am very satisfied with them. I'm glad that Cree offers a clean, white daylight 5000k version of the bulb since I dislike the yellow-amber color of "soft white" bulbs. The bulb does get warm after its been on a while, but no where near as hot as a tungsten bulb. The base, however, gets scalding hot, hence the cooling fins around it. I don't think an LED bulb generates as much heat as a tungsten bulb, but definately don't touch it after its been on all evening. I'm sold on LED bulbs and am looking forward to the next increase in equivalent wattage bulbs from Cree.

I just purchased 20 of these bulbs to replace some compact fluorescent bulbs. I used 10 of them in my garage and all I can say is "WOW", These babies are bright! I have 2 ceiling fans outside under my patio that had 3 candelabra base 800 lumen CFL's in each of them. I replaced the bulb fixtures with the standard sized bulb fixtures and I went from 4800 lumens to 9600 lumens, "WOW" again! and they dim very well. Overall I say these bulbs are Excellent. I rated the value as good because I think it's insane to have to pay $20 for each bulb when you can get a tablet with tons more electronics in them for as low as $49, Anyways I highly recommend them and I wish Home Depot would hurry up and offer them in all stores because they are shooting themselves in the foot by only selling them online.

I am glad CREE is now offering the 100W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Bulb. The bulb actually provides 1600 lumen (the equivalent of two of their 60W Equivalent bulbs). The price is very good considering what 1600 lumen bulbs were priced even on January 1, 2014. Thanks to CREE and Home Depot for making these available.

A friend came by the other night to see our new Cree 100w bulbs, which we had installed in our kitchen recessed lighting holders. Her comment was "wow are those bright" and she was right, as we allowed her to compare them with the equivalent EcoSmart bulbs, which were headed shortly thereafter to the trash can. This is what you call a "no brainer". Besides that, Cree is made in the USA. Notice all the other packages say made in China. So much for that, as like a word to the wise .......

These bulbs are bright and produce a good color. They have a rubbery coating that makes gripping them for installation or removal very easy. That coating may also protect against flying glass if the bulb were to be hit by something. They do not get hot, even after hours of use. A great product, now just get the price down.
