Answer:
I just spoke to Customer Service at Cree, they say that it can't be enclosed at all because air needs to circulate around the bottom of the bulb or it will get too hot and fail. So if you call in for a warranty replacement make sure you had the bulb in a fixture that was not even partially enclosed

Not sure because of the fat base. You would just have to buy it and try it and then return it if it didn't fit. There is no way to tell.

Answer:
probably not. The bulb is too large to fit most standard porch fixtures. The opening to the globe or enclosure must be at least 3 inches wide. The globe or cover must fit a bulb 5 1/4 inches long.

Answer:
No. 5000 to 5500k is considered pure white light or Daylight. This is a cool white bulb. I would think 3500 to maybe 4000k would be considered mid range color of pure white light

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 358 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Short Life Used this bulb is an overhead fixture (Not recessed in ceiling) under normal daily use - being 2-3 hours per day. Bulb failed in less than 2 years of use. Electric cost savings not worth the price of the bulb. I gave 2 stars because the lighting was excellent. June 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bulb burned out I spent for expensive lightbulbs for a long term investment when I purchased six Cree bulbs less than two years ago at Home Depot. Used most of them in single-switch series overhead bathroom fixture (non-dimming). We use these bulbs on average 2-3 hours max burn time a day. Bulb burned out far faster (< 2 years) than the 18+ years life which Cree advertised. From reading through the number of reviews today from customers who have had similar or faster burn out issues, it seems like the other Cree bulbs I have in the same overhead light series are likely to go sooner rather than later. Quality of lighting was very good, but early burn-out is a bad deal. July 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bulbs Great bulbs and the color that I wanted. And they are great for the garage as they do not draw bugs. September 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst purchase ever!! I purchased these bulbs because I wanted long lasting bulbs made in USA. I am a senior citizen and wanted these for areas that I need to use a ladder to reach. The first two burned out in less than two months. Home Depot replaced them, and the second set burned out just as quickly. These do not even last as long as ordinary light bulbs, but are at least 10 times more expensive. So now, it's back to the store hoping I can get a refund without a receipt. September 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bright Placed this light in our new outside coach light. It totally lights up my driveway. I didn't realize that it would be so bright. I could have gotten away with a lower watt light, but I do like this one. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best led bulbs out there100w equivalent bulb out there Cree makes the best led light bulbs in my opinion. They are also a great bang for your buck. a lot of them are assembled in the USA as well. Just look on the back of the package to verify where its made. my entire house is CREE lit now August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor quality We bought a package of this light bulb (18v) on June 2015.There were two bulbs in the container. After less than a year the bulb output have diminished to about 30%.. We called the company ,they told us that they will send replacement but they never did. We called several time and got no respond. We do not recommend this bulb. August 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They don't last! I bought six of these to replace CFL bulbs last fall. Three of them are already dead. They lasted 2-6 months. I was able to get my money back from Home Depot for one of them thanks to their 90 days guaranty. I guess I can return the other two to Cree but I don't want to wast more money on the shipping cost to do so. Don't waste your money on these! August 24, 2016
