Is the color spectrum on this bulb in the mid range of color for pure white light?

The accompanying Cree specifications state that this bulb has a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of greater than 80 out of 100. Accurate color is important to me for my art room.

Customer Reviews

100W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) A21 Dimmable LED Light Bulb is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 372.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No More Cree For Me Purchased several of these and after the first round of burnouts, I took them back to Home Depot who allowed me to exchange them there since they had only lasted a couple of weeks. After a couple more months these started flickering and burned out. PIcture shows only half the LED's lighting up before burning out. Cree offers a 10 yr warranty, but too many stipulations to make it worthwhile paying to send back. I ended up buying another brand of LED lights at a fraction of the cost and haven't had any issues. I will be staying away from the Cree products from now on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bulb burned out I spent for expensive lightbulbs for a long term investment when I purchased six Cree bulbs less than two years ago at Home Depot. Used most of them in single-switch series overhead bathroom fixture (non-dimming). We use these bulbs on average 2-3 hours max burn time a day. Bulb burned out far faster (< 2 years) than the 18+ years life which Cree advertised. From reading through the number of reviews today from customers who have had similar or faster burn out issues, it seems like the other Cree bulbs I have in the same overhead light series are likely to go sooner rather than later. Quality of lighting was very good, but early burn-out is a bad deal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bulb died after just 2 hours of use! This LED 100W bulb died after just being on for 2 hours! The worse part is that the manufacturer: Cree expects the customer to pay out of pocked the $8.55+ it would cost to return their defective product. We realize that no electronic item is free from defects...but the failure rate on this wattage rated LED bulb is quite high...based on the reports from other purchasers both on the Home Depot web site and the web site. ¿What good is a 10 year guarantee if you have to save the original receipt when paying out of pocket to return their defective product? Who keeps receipts for 10 years, just in case, a bulb fails?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not buy cree I had 8 of them for less than 2 years. One completely failed, the other 7 vary between a very low candle glow to working and then going to the candle glow. Of course they have a warranty if you keep a receipt. Who keeps a receipt after a year or can find it. Maybe, other led bulbs are good, but to spend ten times the price does not seem to bright. I will buy cheap bulbs that fail in two year or so. At least they do what they are suppose to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These Bulbs Do Not Last As Advertised I purchased this bulb to replace an incandescent bulb that you can no longer buy. They advertise an AVERAGE life of 25,000 hours. That's the equivalent of 2.8 YEARS of use. Mine failed after less than 1,000 hours. Normally I would just purchase another. But I paid almost $25.00 for this bulb. This is the 3rd one of these type of bulbs, (LED), that I've had fail in such a short period of time. They really need to improve the longevity of these bulbs, if they are going to charge this much money for a product that lives nowhere near as long as they advertise it. The one's I've purchased did not last as long as the $1.50 incandescent bulbs that they replaced. I wish I could go back to them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cree doesn't honor its warranty; lasted 6 months I bought one of these expensive LED bulbs with a 5 yr warranty. It died in 6 months so I paid to send it back to Cree and they mailed me a replacement. The replacement lasted another 6 months, so I mailed that one back to Cree 3 months ago, never got a response. Their 1600 lumen LEDs last no longer than incandescents and at $20, they're definitely not cost-effective. Cree LEDs used to be the gold standard. Now, they're not only no better than anyone else's and cost more but since they won't honor their warranty, I recommend keeping away from Cree products altogether.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Have Seen The Light! The Cree 100 watt daylight LED bulb is very bright! Well made in the USA, it provides a full 360 degree light versus the average 'snow cone' style LED bulb you see on the store shelves. The 5000K daylight is excellent for bathrooms, closets and outside light fixtures (my outside fixtures I use the Cree 40W and 60W daylight). A crisp, clean, instant-on natural white light for these applications is perfect. Even at $21 a pop for the 100W, I would highly recommend this bulb. I personally would not use this for common areas like living rooms or bedrooms where you would want a softer look (2700 - 3500K).
