Was ECSTATIC about the initial purchase. Cut a hundred dollars off of my electric bill. GREAT light quality & nice appearance/build quality. Converted the entire house to them. Then, 6 months later, they all started to burn out. I'm on my 6th or 7th now in 2 years. 22 year lifespan? Try 6 month life span. On my way back to Home Depot AGAIN to exchange a set. This is getting REEEAAAL old... I'm going to just start changing them back with the old nasty 70's nicotine yellow incandescent bulbs again. At least they last more than 6 months. I have over 80 bulbs converted to LEDs and they're all going to go back at one point. My TCP candelabra bulbs are all going back too. Just burned out two more of those as well; 10 in all thus far in the last 2 years. One more time & I'm getting ALL my money back.

These were about $20 each. A couple failed under Home Depot's warranty. HD was terrific.
When we fell into Cree's warranty, everything changed. The other reviews confirm this.
When you select a light that's supposed to last ten years, you don't plan to be left in the dark.
We've also had issues with 60 watt bulbs.
Will never buy Cree again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Holden Love the white, bright light...but...
All this talk about a 22.5 year lifespan is just that, talk. Since ANY bulb that's failed HAS to be under warranty--they've only been around for a few years--requiring a receipt and paid postage just makes the bulb that much more expensive. I believe there must be better alternatives. For those of us who forked out big dough for these bulbs, Cree should waive requiring receipts and do what's right--replace our short-lived bulbs...
I should note, I very much liked the light produced while it lasted--around a year.

The light output and power consumption for these bulbs were initially pretty amazing, however they didn't last long before they started flickering and ultimately went out as you can see in the attached pictures of burned out LED's. Cree has a warranty, but you pay for shipping, which is more hassle then I have time for, so not really a good warranty. For the price these should be indestructible. I would recommend staying away from these bulbs.

Used this bulb is an overhead fixture (Not recessed in ceiling) under normal daily use - being 2-3 hours per day. Bulb failed in less than 2 years of use. Electric cost savings not worth the price of the bulb. I gave 2 stars because the lighting was excellent.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Gas42 Does the 100Watt a21 bulb work in all positions.
I needed better lighting in my work shop. So I bought the Cree 100 w bulb at Home Depot.
Took it home and installed it in a overhead porcelain open lamp holder. It switched on immediately.
I thought every thing was fine, until I returned from another part of the basement and found the light out.
It would not switch back on. I turned it off, dishearteningly, thinking I had been had. It seems that after it cooled down, it started working again. I removed it after a series of these shut downs. I installed it in a table lamp, pointed upright, seems to work okay. Evidently, Don't put it in a open lamp holder facing down. I called Cree, they told me that it will work in any position. No Way---Gets too Hot...and FAILS..

I CAN NOT USE THESE BULBS! NOT VERY HAPPY AT ALL! NOW LISTEN VERY CLOSLY TO WHAT I HAVE TO TELL YOU. HOME DEPOT HAS A MASSIVE PROBLEM WITH THIS AND OTHER NEW STYLE BULBS. THIS BULB ON YOUR PRODUCT OVERVIEW STATES THE FOLLOWING " REPLACES A TRADITIONAL 100 WATT BULB AND FEATURES A A21 BULB SHAPE". I BOUGHT THESE BULBS TO INSTALL AS A REPLACEMENT IN MY KITCHEN FIXTURES THAT HAVE A FLAT REMOVABLE FROSTED GLASS LENS . AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW CREE BULBS THE LENS COULD NOT BE REINSTALLED BACK ONTO THE FIXTURE DUE TO THE BULB BEING 5 INCHES LONG AND NOT THE SAME LENGTH OF A STANDARD BULB! I HAVE GONE TO MY LOCAL HOME DEPOT AND TAKEN A TAPE MEASURE AND EVERY BULB THAT I WANTED TO GET WAS 5 INCHES OR MORE IN TOTAL LENGTH . SO IN CLOSING I HAVE $1000.00 IN KITCHEN LIGHT FIXTURES AND NO BULBS THAT CAN BE SHORT ENOUGH TO FIT SO THAT I CAN INSTALL THE LENSES! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO ADVISE ALL OF YOUR BULB MANUFACTURERS ABOUT THIS BULB LENGTH ISSUE! SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH THESE BULBS,MY ONLINE ORDER NUMBER WAS W491608898 AND ORDERED ON 5/20/16 @ 9:16 PM EDT. PLEASE ADVISE ME ON RESOLVING THIS ISSUE.
