Just replaced 60 lamps with LED's in the dining room. Everything is brighter and I love the glow that these lamps give the glass--it's beautiful. Looking forward to the reduced cost of operation and saved man hours changing out lamps.

The Cree LED light bulbs are supposed to last 10+ years. We purchased 6 of these bulbs less than 6 months ago and 3 of them have already gone bad. The LED light bulbs contain a voltage converter that is built into the base of the light bulb, the voltage converter which is an integral part of the light bulb is what goes bad. They have done a horrible job with design of their LED bulbs, purchase a different brand.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GMan Viable 100W incandescent replacement
The CREE 100W class LED bulbs do what CREE promises - they are a viable replacement of 100W incandescent bulbs. These are a bit more bulky in the inverter base section than the 60W replacements, but still fit all my fixtures.
The light output pattern mimicks a traditional filament bulb. Unless you look straight onto the bulb's top you wouldn't know. CREE's bulbs do not feature a forward facing LED on the top of their cylindrical LED post, i.e. there is a darker spot. Well, you'll need welding goggles to notice that since the LEDs are putting out a very high flux.
The 2700K "warm white" bulbs look like filament bulbs in terms of light color (temperature) and do render colors nicely. The 5000K "daylight" bulbs have a crisp bluish light output that works for me quite well in the basement, laundry area and shop.
The bulbs run cool, the inverter gets warm, not excessively though, and they are silent in operation. That is a huge benefit, since most of the competitors' LED bulbs have an audible hum or buzz that I find quite annoying.
The glass bulb is covered with a thin silicone layer which will keep users safe in case a bulb ever cracks.
Overall a very nice product - and I am very happy to finally get the light output of a 100W bulb from affordable LED sources. CREE is the technology leader - and they have proven their engineering prowess yet again with this product.

We needed to save money on the cost of lighting our 104 year old Masonic meeting space, located in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood. With more than 300 light bulbs, illuminated from approximately 5:00 PM until 11:30 PM every night, and outdoor lighting every night, electricity is one of our major expenses.
After doing some initial research, and realizing some significant savings on our home electric bills, we knew that LED lamps were the way to go. We had tried CFLs and didn't like the fact that they only saved about 20% over incandescent bulbs. CFLs also contain mercury.
The next step was to research vendors. Our first requirement was to find a US manufacturer who, preferably, manufactures their LED product within the United States. Cree is both a US based company and has a manufacturing plant in Durham North Carolina, so they met the Made in the USA requirement.
The second requirement was that the LED replacements had to be DIMMABLE - without flicker.
With both the regular bulbs and floodlights, we realized an 82% energy savings. With the candelabra lamps, we went from an average consumption of 35 watts per lamp to 1/3rd (one-third) watt per lamp. Replacing 7 candelabra lamps took us from 245 watts to less than 2.5 watts.
While the actual calculations are complicated: we have to take into consideration our rate (5.5 cents per kilowatt hour), delivery costs, taxes, and other costs, after two months, we can safely say that we are realizing at least $250.00 per month in savings -- and we have only replaced about 25% of our lamps, so there are some considerable savings to be realized as we have the resources, and the required lamp sizes become available in LED bulbs.
Cree is constantly making new strides in LED technology, and we're now waiting for them to produce a DIMMABLE, MOGUL BASE, 500 WATT LAMP.
* Long lasting (life expectancy of 20 years or more)
* excellent light level output
* 82% savings on electricity consumption
* low heat output
* dimmable - without flicker - no special dimmers required in most cases
* Initial cost - offset by savings on electric bill and life of lamp
NOTE: Our experience with Home Depot, both as a residential consumer, and, now, with the purchases of large quantities of CREE LED lamps, has been nothing short of incredible. Great service, quick order fulfillment, and quick delivery.

The bulbs perform as advertized and are plenty bright. Soft white has nice hue tones and dims appropriately. I bought the 5 pack (one came damage in shipping) but my local Home Depot came thru! They are excellent replacements for 100W incandescent. The stay bright and are instant on - instant off.
Only two minor drawbacks, They are coated with silicone and smell until fully cured and they are sticky to the touch and might attract dust. The glass envelope under the silicone is very fragile and in some fixtures the heat sync may need a bulb extender if the socket is narrow and deep.
If the price breaks the $10 barrier for 100 watts they would be the holy grail of bulbs. Cree is a dependable product but who knows if they will be around to honor the 10 year warranty. I hope neither Cree or I have to worry about that.
I would highly recommend!

The bulb seems perfect in every way. Perfect color, brightness, size, appearance and instant on. The silicone coating is unusual, but understandable. The main problem is not the bulb. It is that 3 out of 5 arrived broken. So, after waiting 8 days, I'm wondering how Home Depot will handle the return. Who pays shipping? Do they wait until it is received? Will it be 1 month of time before I have unbroken bulbs that I can use. They have had my money for 6+ days. This may have been a fluke, but there was no padding at all in the box. It was a display box with 5 slots, one for each bulb. The box showed no signs of mishandling.

1 out of 4 of my bulbs failed after only one month. We'll see how long the other's last, but not a good showing considering these are supposed to last 10 years. Will have to see how warranty goes.

You have great LED bulbs. Believe it or not, you are the only ones that carry the 5 pack 2700k bulbs. This bulb is a perfect replacement for 60 watt thru 100 watt incandescent. Great job.
