Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID! High defect rate, and Cree Customer Service is a nightmare! Buy Philips instead. I had one of these begin flickering about a year after purchase. I called Cree Customer Service at 866-924-3645 on December 7, and they promised to send another bulb in "3 to 5 days." After no bulb arrived, I called again on January 4. After a long time on hold, "Debbie" promised to find out why it hadn't shipped, after which she would send me an email. After not getting an email, I called again on January 5. After a long time on hold, I got Debbie again, who said my case was "lost and then found again," and that I would now be receiving a new bulb... on February 29 or sooner. Let's just say that I won't be holding my breath while waiting for the bulb to arrive. AVOID THIS PRODUCT. The defect rate is incredibly high, and getting it replaced will eat up your time with no guarantee that you'll get a new bulb at all. If you need a dimmable 100W equivalent LED bulb, spend an extra $2 and get the Philips bulb: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-100W-Equivalent-Soft-White-2700K-A21-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-451906/205377823 If you don't need dimmability, get the new Philips bulb instead, it's less than half the price and seems to be much more reliable: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-100W-Equivalent-Soft-White-2700K-A19-LED-Light-Bulb-455675/205861840

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viable 100W incandescent replacement The CREE 100W class LED bulbs do what CREE promises - they are a viable replacement of 100W incandescent bulbs. These are a bit more bulky in the inverter base section than the 60W replacements, but still fit all my fixtures. The light output pattern mimicks a traditional filament bulb. Unless you look straight onto the bulb's top you wouldn't know. CREE's bulbs do not feature a forward facing LED on the top of their cylindrical LED post, i.e. there is a darker spot. Well, you'll need welding goggles to notice that since the LEDs are putting out a very high flux. The 2700K "warm white" bulbs look like filament bulbs in terms of light color (temperature) and do render colors nicely. The 5000K "daylight" bulbs have a crisp bluish light output that works for me quite well in the basement, laundry area and shop. The bulbs run cool, the inverter gets warm, not excessively though, and they are silent in operation. That is a huge benefit, since most of the competitors' LED bulbs have an audible hum or buzz that I find quite annoying. The glass bulb is covered with a thin silicone layer which will keep users safe in case a bulb ever cracks. Overall a very nice product - and I am very happy to finally get the light output of a 100W bulb from affordable LED sources. CREE is the technology leader - and they have proven their engineering prowess yet again with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LED Finally has come of age! The bulbs perform as advertized and are plenty bright. Soft white has nice hue tones and dims appropriately. I bought the 5 pack (one came damage in shipping) but my local Home Depot came thru! They are excellent replacements for 100W incandescent. The stay bright and are instant on - instant off. Only two minor drawbacks, They are coated with silicone and smell until fully cured and they are sticky to the touch and might attract dust. The glass envelope under the silicone is very fragile and in some fixtures the heat sync may need a bulb extender if the socket is narrow and deep. If the price breaks the $10 barrier for 100 watts they would be the holy grail of bulbs. Cree is a dependable product but who knows if they will be around to honor the 10 year warranty. I hope neither Cree or I have to worry about that. I would highly recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still work but very dim I bought 3 bulbs for the bathroom not even a year ago and now they look like 40w bulbs. Do some research on leds they all dim and some will dim faster if not made well. No way will I ever find the receipt and I swapped out all the bulbs in the house. I did it to save money and I see no difference, if you think about it the light is not on for long periods of time. If it is then sure the leds will save money. If you take a 6 month old led and put a new one next to it you will see what im talking about. So buying new lights every year at this price just to keep the brightness up is that saving you money? Below is an example from another room, 5 mo old vs new one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re-lamped and loving it! Just replaced 60 lamps with LED's in the dining room. Everything is brighter and I love the glow that these lamps give the glass--it's beautiful. Looking forward to the reduced cost of operation and saved man hours changing out lamps.
