Customer Questions & Answers

Does this 3 way led bulb work with a timer?

Asked by: Nevets
No reason why it shouldn't. The timer controls ac power to the lamp. The switch on the lamp selects one of the three lighting settings (and off). Set the lamp to one of the three settings and the timer should then turn on the lamp as configured.

Do you have 3 way LED bulbs available in daylight?

Where are these made? China?

Asked by: jschwarz49
Neither the the bulb nor the packaging states where the bulb is made however, it is assembled in the USA according to the packaging. If you watch the tear down of these bulbs on youtube the fabrication is quite advanced so I am inclined to believe the circuit board is probably printed in the USA even though the other parts are probably globally sourced. Sorry can't add the image since apparently its bigger than 5mbs.

As the exclusive, authorized consumer retailer for Cree LED Bulbs, why won't Home Depot exchange failed bulbs with a receipt under warranty?

According to the Cree web site: "The Home Depot® is the exclusive, authorized consumer retailer for Cree LED Bulbs"
Asked by: HDShopper
HD swapped out my first bulb without a receipt. Sorry if you are having a different experience.

I bought it from Home Depot less than six months ago to replace a burned-out incandescent bulb an open, bedside lamp. The Cree bulb has had very little use, but it's burned out already. I hope the two 100W Cree bulbs I bought from Home Depot in March for lights in my garage perform better.

I bought this light bulb for my office floor lamp in August 2014 - lasted about 2 years before it failed. With the 10 year warranty I'll be going to Home Depot to see if they will exchange or replace today. I like the 3 way soft light and the energy efficiency. For $21 it has got to last 10 years to recognize the value. Here's hoping Cree has resolved the fail issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cree 30/60/100W soft white bulb failure within 6 months These bulbs look good, work great, cost a lot and fail early. The purpose is to be energy efficient. To produce each bulb there is the cost on the environment. The purchaser has to return to the store which is a cost on the environment. And there is a cost on the environment for material it uses to make the bulbs. The product needs to be redesigned or state that it has a short usage life. The benefit of being willing to pay more upfront to help our environment is lost on this bulb. I am sure Cree is committed to quality products but this bulb is not one of them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 3 of 3 failed within 6 months This is a followup to a review posted 30 June. The bulb mentioned there lasted about 6 weeks, after being used for about 15 hours. Its replacement, also mentioned there, lasted two weeks after about 6 hours usage while a third bulb lasted a whole 6 months. In all three cases, the failure mode was the same. The bulb would not light again after being used at its highest output level for 2 or 3 hours. When I emailed Cree after the replacement bulb's failure, telling them that I wanted my money back and not a replacement bulb, they never replied. I've been trying out the equivalent Philips bulb for the last month. Maybe they will be better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from failed within 3 months (follow up) This is a follow up to a previous review I wrote. Originally I bought two of these bulbs.. one of them failed after about 3 months. After I posted my original 1 star review Cree sent out a new bulb to me. All seemed good. Well here I am roughly 3 months after receiving that bulb and now the other original bulb has died. So it managed to last 7 months. These are in lamps on our nightstands.. so they get at most 1 - 2 hours of use per day. (so nowhere the claimed 25,000 average hours of life Cree states). I stated then and I'll state again.. I sure wish I would have read the reviews BEFORE i went off and purchased a $21 light bulb.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money In an effort to be energy conscious, I bought a number of the Cree 3-way light bulbs at a cost of over $20 each. Using them for about 2 hours every evening for the past 6 months, I have now had 3 of them burn out even though they are guaranteed for 25,000 hours. I have sent two back to Cree and have received only one replacement. So beware when you spend this much on a light bulb. Either the technology is not yet able to support a 3-way bulb or Cree makes a substandard product. I have just ordered 4 3-way LEDs made by Phillips and we'll see if they are better. (None of my 100 watt LED equivalents made by Phillips have burned out in over a year.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 Way 30/60/100 LED Cree Bulb failed in less than a year Bought the Cree 3 way bulb to try out as have a few 3 way lamps etc. and need something that is environmentally safer than the incandescent or the LCD. The bulb burned out or malfunctioned in less than a year of use. Called Cree customer service and they are excellent. I have a new bulb on the way. The Cree R&D need to do some work on this bulb to make sure that it a least reaches the 10 year warranty deadline... Thanks,
