It says on the bulb...not for use in enclosed fixtures. Why?
Asked by: Kiki
It is a question of heat buildup. In enclosed fixtures, there is little or no air circulation to remove heat from the electronics in the base of the lamp.

Anyone else getting long delay for this bulb to come on?

At first it was immediate. Now up to a minute.
Asked by: Rl
No. However, I had to return 3 of the 7 bulbs I purchased because the lowest level did not work.

30/60/100W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A21 3-Way LED Light Bulb is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 68.

I took it home and installed in my 70+ year old floor lamp that contains a 3-Way switch. It does not work. I turn the switch to the first click, nothing. I turn one more click and the light comes on very bright. I turn it for the third click and no change in the bulb brightness. I know the switch is good because I was replacing a spiral florescent 3-Way bulb that works in the lamp. I am not sure what is going on. I gave it 2 stars because it resembles the old style light bulb and it does put out very good light, it just doesn't work like a 3 way should.

I have used various Cree products over the past few years, and lately have converted almost my whole house over to their LED lighting. These 3-way Cree bulbs which I bought just recently were about the last I will have to buy, except for purchasing a few just for back-ups. (No problems on any of the bulbs, at all, so far - all are working perfectly). I have recommended, by word of mouth, any of the Cree products to many friends and relatives. Heck, I've even talked people into buying them in the Home Depot store, and I don't even work there!

The failure rate has been almost 15 percent. I'm so disappointed in Cree. In fact, my Ph.D electrical engineer brother warned me to use Phllips or Osrm -- not Cree. I wish I had listened... Cree LED bulbs are sad. So my question is: how does Home Depot and/or Cree make restitution to me? I've been tossing the bulbs and sticking the old compact fluorescents back in...

You have to play around with a 3-Way switch to get between low-medium-high. I have had other brands that tend to lose their brightness/light output after a year of use. I have also had some that died after a year and were returned. Save your receipt, they can be returned/exchanged. With any newer technology they are still being upgraded.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Please use caution when reading reviewa. I did not review Cree light bulbs until 5 of 6 bulbs died within 2.5 years. A 5 star rating from a new purchaser is based on quality of "light" or energy saved. Cree sells soft and bright LED light bulbs. I have both and have used them inside and outside my home. 4 dimmed and flickered within 17 months and 1 died at 2.5 years. I don't think you are going to save money on this purchase. These very expensive bulbs are junk.

The LED light is much cooler and I feel confident that the new light bulb will work perfectly. I especially like that it is available in a 3-way configuration. I am going back to buy more and convert as many lamps in my home as I can. The help at Home Depot in this department was great in educating me about how I can convert my home to LED lighting.

The light color and size are almost identical to an incandescent 3 way bulb. While Cree's earlier 3 way bulb was very good it was too large for most lamps and quite expensive. At the price point of this bulb I will be changing out all my incandescent 3 way bulbs.
