I bought a house a couple years ago and the previous owners stripped it of nearly every light bulb. (They also took the mailbox for crying out loud!) So I decided this was as good a time as any to make the switch to LED. I bought a pack of these Cree "60 watt" soft white bulbs and they seemed great. So I bought another 20 or so to put in every A19 socket around the house. Two bulbs quickly died. One was in a closet and the other was in a room I rarely used. Flipped the switch and nothing. Probably had less than an hour of use between them. Since then, I've had another one die completely (also in a rarely-used fixture) and 6 others have begun to fail. Two flash and flicker. The other four are losing elements in the ring of LEDs. The flickering bulbs and the bulbs losing brightness are all in high-use fixtures.
It seems pretty clear that these bulbs won't last anywhere close to the 22.8 years estimated by Cree when a third of mine have failed or degraded noticeably in less than 2 years. I don't see any point in paying a premium price for these bulbs. May as well just buy three times as many cheap bulbs for the same price and swap them out when they fail.
Also, the inner coating of the bulb that gives it a "frosted" look becomes less opaque the longer the bulb is in use. The ones that died early still look frosted. The dying bulbs I took out of the fixtures today are nearly clear in places. There's just a slight haze left from the original coating.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bender Product is not reliable, starts failing around 2-3 years.
I purchased about 2 dozen of the 60 watt soft white equivalent Cree bulbs about 26 months ago. 3 have completely failed and 2 more are making a low humming noise. None of these bulbs are on a dimmer so that is not the source of the hum. Also, these bulbs will dim over time and not put out as much light. I contacted Cree about the first two failed bulbs and they did replace them but with the much cheaper 4Flow bulbs that only have a 3 year warranty. The third bulb crapped out less than a week after the 4Flow replacements arrived so I will have to go through the process of getting that one replaced.

I purchased the Cree classic 60 watt equivalent bulb listed here. I paid $12.99 each + tax. I purchased 30. I had one broken in the package and one fail after 1 week. I blew that off to shipping damage. I had them about 18 months and found one of the bulbs glass globe fell off. I emailed Cree. They told me to dispose of the bulb . They would sent a new one. On the second try the sent me the four flow bulb. This has less of a warranty and is totally open making it useless in damp conditions. Cree said they discontinued the old style bulbs (what is being sold here!) and the four flow was the new replacement. Now at 20 months I had two more bulbs replaced for flickering and total failure. Cree replaced with another four flow blub. Now almost 2 years old I have three more bulbs that the globes fell off, one of which is blinking. I now have to call again. I can understand a few failures but these all seem to be a design issue. I Paid for a long lasting, cost saving bulb that has not last as a normal bulb would. Would not recommend. Cree get your act together! These bulbs projected light just like a soft white bulb which is why I purchased them.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BigW Do not buy Cree Brand, they do not last. The Cree LED bulbs are the only ones that have ever burned out on me.
Over the last 2 years I have replaced every bulb in my house with LED ones, I bought several different brands including FEIT, Cree, ET, and Energetic. The Cree ones have all burned out while all of the others were less money and are all still working fine.

As in other reviews the bulb lasted about 18 months then failed. After reading the other similar stories I will not purchase Cree again. I hold Home Depot equally responsible for continuing to sell this junk.
