Can a dimmable LED bulb be used with a 3 way table lamp? Will it function like a 3 way bulb?

Asked by: Tom
Nope. For a three-way table lamp, you need a three-way bulb, just like you did with the old tungsten bulbs.

Can the dimmable bulbs be used in place of 3-way bulbs?

I have some lamps that have 50w-75w-100w capabilities, can the dimmable bulbs be used in place of 3-way bulbs?
Asked by: Dwez
Sort of. The bulbs will come on but you will not get the different levels of light. Three way bulbs actually have two filaments in them. When you rotate the switch the 1st filament comes on, the next click turns off the first filament and turn on the 2nd. The next click of the switch has both filaments on. Dimming circuits actually adjust the voltage going to the single filament in the bulb.

Are there any 220v versions available?

Are there any 220v versions available? If so, where I could buy those? Thanks.
Asked by: Lamprghini2015
Wow! 220 volts? I am sure there are none at this time. If all you have is 220V I guess you'll have to wait...and hope. I am not sure if there will ever be a 220 volt unless for off-shore use. One thought: If you wire two bulbs in series they should run on 220. Of course you will have twice the light but you could go with smaller light output bulbs. These bulbs draw a very, very small amperage. Nothing like an incandescent & even less than fluorescent. That is the beauty of these bulbs. After my 60W bulb was on for a long time I put my finger on it & it was cool. I could leave my I don't recommend this. They last forever.

60W Equivalent Soft White A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulb with 4-Flow Filament Design is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 317.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from garbage Bought 4 bulbs less than a year ago. 2 of them have quit already. Don't waste your money !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bulb. This is one of several different led bulbs that I've purchased. With the lights are off, the bulb has decent looks-even with the cooling vents. When on, the bulbs do not become to hot to touch, put out a good amount of light and look great. I prefer the 2700K (soft white) bulbs. They give off a color of light, similar to that of the old incandescent bulbs they are meant to replace .I bought two 6 packs of these bulbs and plan to purchase more as my CFL's bulbs burn out. The 5000K (daylight) bulbs are to harsh for me. They give off the color of light you would see in an office. But that's just my preference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best LED Bulb of 2014 I am a LED bulb connoisseur (if you will) and own 20 bulbs of different brands and models. The Cree 4-Flow is the best LED bulb that I have ever owned. The price is right. It looks like a classic bulb. It is instant on. It is bright. Good color rendering. Good dimming. No visible flicker. Extremely lightweight. I plan on buying a six pack of these for every friend and family member this Holiday season and recommend that you do the same. I believe that Cree may have created the ultimate industrial design for a LED bulb. Now all they have to do is refine the internals over time. The only negative is that the lumens per Watt are only average. One day I hope to see a 4-flow bulb with over 150 lumens/Watt.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing results and poor quality bulb Bought this Cree 2700 soft white LED 60w replacement bulb for $7.97 in February 2015. It lasted until today in July 2016, 15 months exactly. I used it in a table lamp that is turned on once or twice a week. I did not use the dimming feature. Not a good value considering the cost. An old fashioned cheap incandescent bulb would have lasted longer. Very disappointing. I would not recommend buying the bulb. The instructions on the package say 100% satisfaction guarantee and to keep your receipt and mail it back to Cree. It is supposed to last 27 years but has five year warranty. How many of us want to keep up with receipts for five years on a lightbulb? Save your money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple failures so far. I have installed 15 of these bulbs in various places around the house within the last 2 years. So far I have had to replace 4 of the bulbs due to failure. I have another bulb as well that flickers on various occasions. They are supposed to last for 22 years but this doesn't seem to be my experience with them. I don't keep receipts and it is a pain to have to mail the bulbs back to the company to get a replacement. I don't have time for that. Not worth the hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It doesn't last long. Replaced 4 in less than 2 years. I replaced all bulbs when I moved in new house 2 years ago. So far I replaced 4 bulbs. The worst thing is that the cover of bulb was broken and fallen down. Don't buy cree. It only lasts like normal bulb.
Date published: 2016-01-23
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do not last long I bought about 20 of these about 2 years ago. I've had 4 of them fail. There is no way they have lasted anywhere near the rated life. These are expensive to begin with. When they don't even last as long as a typical incandescent or flourescent bulb, they are way too costly. I will be replacing the failed bulbs with a competing product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from buzzes with Lutron Caseta dimmer Bought this bulb specifically for use in a lamp that will be dimmed with a Lutron Caseta dimmer (similar dimmers used elsewhere throughout my house). Unfortunately this bulb buzzes with that dimmer. Another non-4FLOW CREE bulb (prior model: the one with the huge heat sink, but without the vents) did not buzz in same dimmer. Quality of light and brightness is good, but I specifically purchased this one for the advertised "dimmable without buzzing" feature, which unfortunately does not work as advertised.
