I purchased 8 of these for our recessed fixtures in 9 ft ceilings. We have to replace these with a TALL ladder. I tried the fluorescent bulbs of this type when they came out & HATED them. They weren't very bright & turned a reddish color. These bulbs are very bright, easy to just screw in unlike other led indoor floods. I write the date I install bulbs in permanent marker on the base of the bulb when I install them so we will see how long these really last but I am VERY satisfied with these bulbs now. The price is expensive but in line with what others of this type are selling for. ALSO the easy opening packaging was a delightful surprise!

Being an energy expert and manager it is important to me to apply the same principles in my own home. LED light bulbs are an initial cost but the return on investment (ROI) is amazing. Not only is the light outstanding and saving lots of energy, but you can also enjoy not having to change light bulbs on a regular basis. I did the downstairs of my home over a year ago and have not changed a single bulb. Previously I had 75 Watt Par 30 Halogens in all of my down lights. They were very susceptible to voltage spikes and the ones under the upstairs walk ways would burn out quickly. The cooling demand in the house has decreased dramatically as the LED bulbs do not produce heat. My kitchen stays about 5 degrees cooler when the lights are on. I just finished the rest of the house including the outside and can't wait to start compiling the savings.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jrlo One failed in 9 months; 2nd generation is slower
One of the four I purchased in December 2014 failed in 9 months. It is a 650 lumens 1st generation with a 10 year warranty. I am still waiting on a warranty replacement.
Before it failed, I bought 12 more in June 2015. These are 2nd generation (the ones on this page); they look the same, but are 655 lumens with a 5 year warranty. The significant difference is that they turn on slower, thus they look wrong if you mix them together in a set of lights controlled by 1 switch.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rich I think these LED lights are great.
What do i like best is it the bright white light or the fact that there is little heat to the bulb. You can put your hand on them after they have been on for a long time and feel almost no heat.

Just installed these in my 7 kitchen cans. The previous halogens were too hot in our standard height ceiling so I wanted to go LED. Tried the 2700K however it gave the medium brown kitchen cabinets a hideous yellow look to them. These LEDs are very bright and are have a more florescent look but the brown cabinets help tone things down. These lights do reveal the true color of the cabinets which I'd describe as fawn brown. Also tried these in the dining area with an antique white table/chairs (brown top/seats) next to white vertical blinds. Way too harsh and extremely florescent looking. Then tried the 2700K but again were too yellow. Went back in that area with the GE Reveal bulbs. Overall, a good product. Dims well. Proud to purchase American too!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pa13 Failed within months
I bought a 65W daylight flood several months ago after having tried normal bulbs for other fixtures with good success. I was going to replace the remaining 7 floods we have when they needed replacement but now need to look elsewhere as this failed within months. It's too bad because I liked the light but too expensive to continually replace.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by economist Worst dimmable bulbs ever
I remodeled my house and put in 14 new recessed lights. We put in the Cree daylight dimmable flood lights. Within a very short period of time some of them started to flicker when they are turned on. We have now gone through 25 of the bulbs, mostly through replacement and only two of them do not flicker when dimmed. It has been the biggest waste of money on bulbs I have ever experienced. Changed to Phillips bulbs and all have worked perfectly.

The bulb seem to be made very well. The light out put is better than expected.
