I have a dozen or so of these. I found that in the locations that did not include a dimmer switch, they have worked great. A nice pleasing color light and good brightness. Appearance - wise - they look completely normal, no silver ring around the edges or obvious hot spots.
Problem is in areas with a dimmer switch. Over time, these bulbs must not react well to being dimmed. 6 months later, all of them have exhibited really bad flickering, even at full strength. When dimmed, they flicker so badly that you think you are in a prison movie. Its a shame since these are a pleasing color and good price.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0Â by Eric Major quality issues
When these bulbs work, they're excellent--even with dimmers. But I wish the people who gave this bulb 5 stars would revisit their review after a couple months. This is one of the worst bulbs i've ever bought as far as durability goes. We remodeled our house and bought 32 of the BR30 soft whites. Over the last 11 months i've replaced 10. Some start flickering after a few months. Others have just died or completely dimmed after <1 day. I've noticed that the ones with a slick feeling surface of the bulb seem to be newer and are more prone to quality issues. The older ones with a slightly rubbery feel to the surface have held up longer. It baffles me why HD hasn't pulled this off the shelf at this point. I can't be the only one with these issues! If you do buy them, hold on to your receipt so you can return/exchange them.

Solid bulb an well built. Dims better than most, but when dimmed, the light is an ugly gray-green which makes room unpleasant. It does not dim to the warm color . . . at all. At full brightness, the color is great and matches standard bulbs. I bought 4 and was going to buy 8 more for kitchen, but when dimmed, the light is just to unpleasant. Why spend a bunch making your house look good, but then light it with terrible lighting. I tested against 3 other LED bulbs. Costco was the worst and the cheapest and did not dim well. G7 from amazon makes probably the best light as it is a bit warmer at full brightness and when dimmed, but was a plastic lens. If you just need full brightness, these are great. Hope that helps.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Skippy Closest to incandescant that we have found so far!
Once again this year, I purchased the latest versions of PAR30 LED bulbs from 4 different manufacturers. This Cree was by far the best of the lot and the best PAR 30 I've seen so far. It was the correct size and shape and when looking at it from below, the bulb is indistinguishable from a regular incandescent bulb. They also dim very nicely all the way down to off. I had one of each of the LED types in my ceiling along with a couple of incandescent bulbs and this one was only slightly brighter and just a fraction whiter than the incandescent bulbs. It was not as glaring as the others and it even looked like it had a traditional filament deep inside instead of the multi-LED flat panel that many of these bulbs have. I have 32 PAR30 can lights in my home and will be back to buy a bunch of these as soon as Home Depot reinstates their "new lower price" on these bulbs.
I rated this 4 stars because I have a bunch of other Cree bulbs in my house and two out of about 30 failed in less than a year. For the price paid for these, that failure rate is too high.
In the image I've included, the bulb on the left is the Cree LED bulb. Bulbs on right and back are 65W incandescent. In terms of initial brightness, the Cree is probably closer to a 75 watt incandescent bulb and it is very slightly whiter...maybe 2800k to the incandescent 2700k....hardly noticeable.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by RJJ21 Excellent replacement for standard BR30
This product produced light equivalent in brightness and color to my Feit 75W standard bulb. I am unable to tell a difference between them. The neck of the Cree bulb is larger than a standard bulb so if you have a narrow opening to the socket this might not fit. Bulb is cool to the touch and has a rubberized texture that makes it easy to install without dropping. With a power draw one tenth of the standard bulb I expect to see savings over the lifetime of the bulb.
