Every one of the TW Series bulbs I have purchased has failed. Each one has died the same way - it starts to flicker, and eventually dies. Could be thermal expansion causing internal connections to break.
Interestingly: none of the regular (non-TW) series bulbs have had this behavior/problem.

Bought and paid the premium for the TW bulbs (6). 2 have failed within months, not years. Returned to Cree at my expense. Cree didn't even send a TW replacement, but the cheaper 60w bulb. Hoping to have better luck with Philips.
Update: Cree would not post my review above.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Michael High failure rate
I like these bulbs very much except that they fail at a very high rate. I use them in enclosed ceiling fixtures, which Cree says is okay so long as they are not mixed in the fixture with other types of bulbs, which they're not. What typically happens is that after a few months a bulb will start to cut in and out, and eventually it will stop working altogether. Although I have not kept track well enough to know the exact failure rate, it is certainly north of 50% and may be close to 100%. I just keep returning the dead ones and replacing them with new ones. Frustrating for bulbs that are supposed to last 10 years.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NYLEDGeek Buzz when dimmed and a tad yellow
So basically I think this is a great bulb if you don't need to dim them. But, if you do need to dim them, they buzz. I have had this problem on both regular and LED/CFL dimmers with several different bulbs. I also purchased the GE Reveal LEDs, and they have not had the buzzing issue at all and they also have a less yellowish hue. After using both, with the price being almost identical, I can't for the life of me figure a reason to buy these instead of the GEs. You will much happier with them. No buzzing, less yellow-y. The CRI is listed as being higher, but I think they look and perform worse and they take more wattage, too.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by khess Superb performance when used with the right dimmer
I've had 9 of the 40w TW soft white bulbs in a living room fixture for the past two months and they look great. Initially, I was hearing a buzzing noise from the bulbs after installing a dimmer that said it was compatible with LED bulbs on the packaging as well as being on the approved dimmer list from Cree. I returned that dimmer and replaced it with the ELV type (trailing edge phase cut) of dimmer. Now the bulbs are perfectly silent as expected with even better dimming range.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jeff4 Fantastic color rendering
Most people do not pay attention to CRI, and most companies consider a CRI of 80 to be acceptable. If you install these light bulbs and compare to the CRI-80 alternatives, you will see a whole new world of color bursting out before your eyes. In my opinion, the higher price and slightly lower efficiency (lumens/watt) are worth to finally achieve a colorful rendering of things around me at night.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Getacloo Great for vanity, skin tones
When this product was available in stores, we purchased them for our master bedroom vanity and they provide good color rendition for my wife's makeup activities, etc. I recently purchased the 6-pack online for my daughters' bathroom vanity (all 6 over a huge mirror and double vanity). Great reviews from the young ladies so far. They're instant-on, no noise or flickering, good light dispersion, and great color rendering. In fact, the light is nearly indistinguishable from the GE Reveal incandescents to which we were so accustomed. Note: I have used other Cree bulbs also, and have had mostly good results. The couple that died early were promptly and cheerfully refunded under warranty at my local Home Depot. I've tried others (Philips, EcoSmart, etc.) but Cree, in my opinion, offers the most useful and natural dispersion of light of any LED currently on the market. I don't use dimmers on any of them, so I can't speak to that aspect at all, but if you want the "incandescent look" with the efficiency of an LED, these are great. There is a bit less light coming from the end of the bulb than an incandescent (I deducted a star for that and the steep price), but that is a detail that will not matter to most folks.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dave99 Flicker Flicker Flicker
New lights installed in our kitchen. 6 new cans, wiring and switches. So far they all have been returned due to annoying flickering after several weeks. Some have been replaced twice. We reinstalled one of the flickering bulbs in our laundry room with a standard base, on a different circuit and it still flickers as well. We did that just to verify it is the CREE floodlight. Beautiful light but poor poor quality. We're asking our installer to find a different manufacturer and replace the lot.
