We had 3 turned pine posts on our porch. As we live in Florida, the bottoms of them were rotting - wood has an awful time here. Obviously, we need treated wood posts, but they're ugly and hard to paint. Slip one of these over your treated post with a couple of plastic end trim pieces and your ugly post problem is solved!
I was able to re-use the existing post mounts by slipping the cover over the bottom one and cutting two slots in the top cover to allow the flat parts of the top mount to slip through. Once in place, we put screws through the vinyl, the metal and iinto the wood, slipping up (or down) the end trim to cover the screws. A little caulk to fill the slots that we cut, and to keep water out, and we were done.
They weren't that cheap, but the finished look is worth it. I didn't really want another turned pine post on my porch....

We needed 8 foot post sleeves for our deck. We purchased Veranda railings (made by Fiberon). Veranda did not have tall post sleeves. Fiberon did but they were ridiculously expensive. Found these at about 1/2 the price and were made out of a decent material. The problem was with shipping which basically scratched the heck out of the sleeves. We needed 5 of them. Out of the first five we received, 3 were "good enough" and the other two were severely scratched. They were only wrapped in plastic like saran wrap which was not enough protection. Returned and re-ordered two of them. They arrived scratched also but were able to use them with the bad sides kind of hidden. Shouldn't have to play this kind of game for a $45 piece of plastic! If you order these, order twice as many as you need and be prepared to return half of them.

The post sleeve is low cost, looks good, and does not need painting. The fit is slightly loose.

4x4 fit inside the post sleeve with room to spare. I had rounded the corners of the post but don't think that is necessary. Post sleeve was well wrapped for shipping. Suggest picking it up at the store.

Posts worked great and matched up nicely with all standard trim and cap pieces. Was able to get 3 - 36" post covers out of each length.

Needed a longer length to cover 4x 4 for a birdhouse. Worked just as I had hoped and better than painting staining pressure treated wood.
