Product Overview

These hollow wall anchors, or molly bolts, are medium duty fasteners used primarily in drywall. Once the body of the anchor is installed fully, the mating screw can be removed and items can be changed without disrupting the anchor. Hollow wall anchors with pointed ends can pierce drywall using just a hammer whereas ones with blunt ends require a pre-drilled hole. Standard screwdriver is required for installation. Zinc plating offers some corrosion resistance.

Customer Questions & Answers

what is the maxium thickness i can use this on? i have 1/2 drywall wth 1/2in plywood behind it.

Asked by: HDEV
The packaging states that it is good for 1/8" to 7/8". you would be 1/8" off, it may work but I would be hesitant. The other answer states "This should work just fine with 1/2” drywall & 1/2” plywood. You should not exceed 2-3/8” in.”, but you have to keep in mind that it has to contract in order to grab and hold the wall. I’m not saying he is incorrect, but again I would be hesitant going against what is written on the packaging.

What is the minimum material thickness for these anchors? Will they work in 3/16 plywood?
Asked by: Charles
The packaging states 1/8" to 7/8". You should be fine in the 3/16", but keep in mind that the rating is based on 1/2" Sheetrock.

#6-32 x 2-3/8 in. Zinc-Plated Steel Hollow Wall Anchors with Truss-Head Combo-Drive Screws (25-Pack) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great anchors for drywall. They work exactly as advertised This is definitely my go-to anchor for hanging anything heavy on drywall. They work exactly as described, and once tightened are incredibly solid. I would gladly recommend these anchors. I haven't tried these on plaster, but I can't imagine them working very well, due to the hammering necessary. Also, I would recommend being careful with a power drill when installing these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are the Best These are a million times better than the simple plastic wall anchors. I like them a lot better than the toggle bolt anchors, too. When you tighten up these anchors they have 3 legs that expand up against the back side of the wall board instead of 2 legs like the toggle bolts. Plus, these stay tight where toggle bolts can loosen and the threads of the bolt wallow out the wall board. These have a smooth collar that protects the hole from the sharp edges of the threads of a bolt.
