I purchased this tiller at Home Depot. Before it was off warranty I had to return it since it would not start.
It took 6 weeks to get it back, and it worked, that time. I used it maybe 4 times, all small jobs around the yard. I emptied the gas and oil for the winter and stored it inside. Two weeks ago, I got it out, put in the proper amount of oil, then the gas and tried to start it. It roared to life for about a minute and stopped dead. I took it to a local small engine repair place and they said it had blown a head gasket. No good, no way to repair it....money down the drain. After this experience, I will NEVER buy a Cub Cadet product again. I warn others to heed my experience and buy something else.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Alvin Best Square Foot Garden Ever
I love this unit it for square foot gardening because of the light weight. You just remove the wheels, add 1-2 inches of compost and using one hand just drop it right in any foot by foot square. I can rotate from a winter to summer veggies garden one square at a time. This unit lets my garden produce 100 per cent of the time. I did try the home lite electric
unit and burned it up in 5 minutes. Took it back and got this unit. Like going from a toy to a real machine, this guy has lots of power and can bury the tines 8-10 in deep with no problem. Its been 3 mo and we have the best garden ever this year with 8 in cabbage hearts, full collards ant tons of lettuce. You cant beat it for small gardens and flower beds.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WP15 Great for the Home Gardener
Assembly was pretty simple (under 10 minutes). I filled the unit with oil per the instructions. I added gasoline and primed the engine. It started on the third pull. I tilled an area about 10'X10" in 30 minutes. I tried various height settings until I was satisfied. This product is for the home gardener. It's great for flower beds and small gardens. This is so much easier than doing it by hand! I have a few more areas I need to do. There is a cheaper brand available at HD, but I do recommend it. If your a home gardener, you will love this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smiley150 Always a good buy with Cub Cadet, great product
This little machine has lived up to it's expectation. The power in it is unbelievable as it tears through the rough soil and weedy areas. Great contribution to your reputation Home Depot and I'm glad I waited to find the right buy. I like the light weight and sturdiness, and thanks for the pre-assembly. Two screws, add oil and gas then went to work. I have used it both on my home garden and the landscaping pics attached. Good stuff!

I tried everything to get this thing to run. I added the correct amount of oil and put fresh gas in the tank. I followed the directions word for word. It would run for about 15 secs then shut off. I adjusted the throttling screw and messed with the carberator for a good 4 hours. After a few hundred pulls and a couple of blistered hands later I put that piece of junk back in the box to return it. Maybe I got a lemon, maybe not. Either way I'm going to spend the extra $50 for the smaller Honda tiller

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dennjon Literally fell apart after 1 1/2 months of occasional use
My wife bought this for our small garden in Hawaii. Our soil is loamy with small rocks and had just previously been cleared with a Bobcat. We used the tiller for prepping rows prior to planting -- maybe 300 sq feet of ground. The engine would stall every time a pebble got caught in the tines; that was the initial frustration. After maybe 10 hours of use, the tiller started shaking itself a part. The metal base where the engine and handles mount actually broke at all four attachment points and the tiller is now useless. We took it back to Home Depot yesterday and they said, "Sorry, it's been more than 30 days since you purchased it so we can't do a return." Now we're stuck dealing with the manufacturer. Oh joy! Unless you're doing only VERY LIGHT gardening tasks, I'd avoid this machine. It's cheap ... but not in a good way!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by John Good for a cultivator
first thing this is not a tiller it's a cultivator. My background is a shop manager for a landscape company. This machine runs ok it's a 4 stroke so the engines rpms are lower than a 2 stroke but it still has enough power. The fuel i use is 89 octane don't go cheap all small engines use 89 octane. Think mine has a problem with the vented cap I can hear a hiss when I open the cap. I might install an echo style vent. If you are buying this as your tiller just have someone ahead of you digging up the dirt with a shovel. Overall this machine is has good has a mantis or an echo aand it is over 100 bucks cheaper. Buy it.

I love this thing. First bought a Honda because of the add on accessories available, but returned it the same day as it was hard to start and kept shutting off when my hand moved too much on the right handle, hitting the on/off switch. Brought the Cub Cadet home and it started right up and ran great. It does a great job and I couldn't be happier, it's a beast. Easy to start, easy to shut off when I need to, but I don't end up shutting it off accidentally. The choke is a bit hard to get to, but that's the only issue I've had and it's not bad.
