Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Square Foot Garden Ever I love this unit it for square foot gardening because of the light weight. You just remove the wheels, add 1-2 inches of compost and using one hand just drop it right in any foot by foot square. I can rotate from a winter to summer veggies garden one square at a time. This unit lets my garden produce 100 per cent of the time. I did try the home lite electric unit and burned it up in 5 minutes. Took it back and got this unit. Like going from a toy to a real machine, this guy has lots of power and can bury the tines 8-10 in deep with no problem. Its been 3 mo and we have the best garden ever this year with 8 in cabbage hearts, full collards ant tons of lettuce. You cant beat it for small gardens and flower beds. February 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent buy for smaller jobs It's a little guy. But, it's a powerful little unit. Good for smaller jobs. I used it to till a 10'x16' far. Handled the job no problem. 2 minor complaints: The wheel base is only 9". So, it's not real stable trying to roll it across a yard. It will tip over. (Fine when in action though, it's weight is on the blades) The handle height, at it's lowest setting, is too high...unless you are 6' +. I'll cut the handle shorter, and drill new holes. Overall...very pleased with it's power and performance September 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a good buy with Cub Cadet, great product This little machine has lived up to it's expectation. The power in it is unbelievable as it tears through the rough soil and weedy areas. Great contribution to your reputation Home Depot and I'm glad I waited to find the right buy. I like the light weight and sturdiness, and thanks for the pre-assembly. Two screws, add oil and gas then went to work. I have used it both on my home garden and the landscaping pics attached. Good stuff! July 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CC 148 Just the Right Size This is a smaller garden tiller but for me it is just the right size and power. All of my vegetable gardening is done is raised beds and this tiller is perfect for getting in those beds and really loosing the soil. I love that I always feel in control of the tiller and it is easy to start. This is important if I want to get work done when my husband is not home to help me. We have also used the CC 148 in other parts of the yard when a small tiller is needed and it has always worked perfectly. I would definitely purchase this tiller again. September 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for maintanance of veg. & flower gardens Over all a good machine right out of the box. Will cut through grass and weeds without struggle. Can use two improvements: 1- Handles need to be adjustable up or down for various heights of the person who uses it. I'm 6'- 2" and had no problem with the use. My wife who is 5'-5' in lifts had to struggle somewhat with the use of it. It tired her arms out quicker. 2-Put a bigger gas tank on it. I had to fill it twice just to do between the rows of vegs. in a 50' X 35' garden. This is not that big a deal but a bigger tank would be better. Other then that it works great for its purpose. I even tried it on virgin NC red clay and was surprised that it could do the job, however I would not recommend this machine for this type of work on a large scale new garden. July 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just buy this one I love this thing. First bought a Honda because of the add on accessories available, but returned it the same day as it was hard to start and kept shutting off when my hand moved too much on the right handle, hitting the on/off switch. Brought the Cub Cadet home and it started right up and ran great. It does a great job and I couldn't be happier, it's a beast. Easy to start, easy to shut off when I need to, but I don't end up shutting it off accidentally. The choke is a bit hard to get to, but that's the only issue I've had and it's not bad. May 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rototiller I bought this item for my husband and he just loved it. From the time he started using it, all he could do is praise how easy it was to to maneuver. It didn't take him long to assemble and now we actually have a front lawn. January 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Literally fell apart after 1 1/2 months of occasional use My wife bought this for our small garden in Hawaii. Our soil is loamy with small rocks and had just previously been cleared with a Bobcat. We used the tiller for prepping rows prior to planting -- maybe 300 sq feet of ground. The engine would stall every time a pebble got caught in the tines; that was the initial frustration. After maybe 10 hours of use, the tiller started shaking itself a part. The metal base where the engine and handles mount actually broke at all four attachment points and the tiller is now useless. We took it back to Home Depot yesterday and they said, "Sorry, it's been more than 30 days since you purchased it so we can't do a return." Now we're stuck dealing with the manufacturer. Oh joy! Unless you're doing only VERY LIGHT gardening tasks, I'd avoid this machine. It's cheap ... but not in a good way! April 4, 2015
