Who makes the motor? I know it's CC brand but is it OEM Briggs, Kohler, other?

Also how is the motor? Any issues? Approximately how much equivalent Horse Power do you think it is?
Asked by: Jeff
Hello. Cub Cadet has successfully entered into a joint venture with a major Asian manufacturing company, whereby both companies have collaborated their engineering, design and manufacturing expertise to produce a high end overhead valve (OHV) engine. These engines will be exclusively distributed and serviced by Cub Cadet under the Powermore® engine brand. Powermore® engines are a premium small block engine with advantages that in many cases are better than competitive engine models. Some of the premium features include: • Overhead Valves (OHV) • Cast iron cylinder sleeve • Dual element air cleaner • Low tone muffler • Ball-bearing supported crank shaft • Large fuel tank capacity. The power output of the Cub Cadet family of engines compares favorably with engines of similar displacement from Briggs & Stratton®, Honda®, and other popular small engine brands. We specify engine size and capacity using engine displacement, because it is a highly reliable and consistent way to describe an engine’s capacity. We do not provide horsepower ratings in connection with the engines we design. I'm very sorry. There are no known issues wtih this engine. Thank you for your question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product exceeded my expectations The product was shipped and received several days before original estimate, Was easy to assemble and instructions were very understandable. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine Brought an RT35 home today. Clearance buy because it's a discontinued item. This is a nice little tiller. Plenty of power and heavy duty. I love the tiller! Like others say it would be nice if it had reverse but I won't miss it. If you can find one of these gems scoop it up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good tiller - not to be passed up After tilling 2 large gardens and a sand volleyball court, I'll say I'm impressed. Simple machine to use and performed flawlessly. Would reverse be nice - yes - but the machine is so light and reasonably priced - I'll get over it quickly! Great product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing Items The tiller was delivered with without a manual, called customer service and one was sent my e-mail. Pretty had to read on line. Took about an hour to find out what kind of oil it needed. BUT in the manual it stated to use the oil that was included with the tiller. This was another item not received. Customer service said they would send out when they sent out manual (2nd call). Put together added oil (had some of correct kind so added) and gas. Started right up. Thought moving right along now, but guess what the wheels would not move (tines moved fine) found out missing another part the cable for the wheels forward/backwards. I am done. Tiller was returned to the store.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I really wanted I wanted the model RT65. My wife ordered this one and I did not even realize it did not have the features I needed until it was completely assembled and I started tilling my garden spot. The quality is very good and it operates smoothly in forward. I need a reverse and neutral which comes on the RT65. I would recommend this to someone who has different needs than I do. I rated ease of use as fair because that is what it is for me. May try to resell it (at what will be, I am sure, a big loss) and then start over for the RT65. Will not let my wife handle the re-do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the Job In this price range, the choices are this Cub Cadet or the Husqvarna 14 inch tiller. The Cub is well built and seems of good quality. Only a couple of things to do to get it ready to start up. Hard to believe but it started on the first pull. The Cub has a slightly bigger engine at 208 cc vs. 205cc but that is probably a negligible difference. This had no problem chewing up clay soil and tearing up some fair sized roots. You can set the height of the control handle which is handy and it is solid and I doubt it will break which has been a complaint I noticed about the Husqvarana. There is no reverse which is the biggest drawback as you have to essentially stop the tines which is of course easy to do, and then reef on the whole tiller to turn it. It is not too difficult unless you are in tight quarters. This is also wider than the Husqvarna and they both have counter rotating tines. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and it is a good solid tiller for most all home uses and I would buy it again.
