Just want to say this is a pretty good log spliter, never had one before just used one that was a home made one. I burn 13 cords of wood a year and have always hand chopped all of it, my kids got sick of helping me chop it with an ax. Al ways to hot in the summer months and it would take us around 3 1/2 months to cut chop and stack all 13 cords of wood during the weekends. We did alot of looking on line at log spliters, I liked the Cub Cadet and read the reviews and they were for the most part good. I took a week off of work and cut and got 18 big truck loads (3/4) ton truck loads of wood from the river bottoms. I then went and opened an account and got myself the Cub Cadet spliter 25 ton. I took another weeks vacation and I split wood for 5 days strait, 12 gallons of gas, and never got it stuck one time, there were pieces that people left behind because they were to knotted up(2 truck loads like that) and it busted them up with no problem. I used it for the 5 strait days and never had any issues at all, well worth the money and wish I would have bought on years ago, I changed the oil and cleaned the air filter and put fuel stabilizer in it and put it away for next year. would have rated it a 5 but there was rust around the bolt and oil filter after just one rain storm, not sure if they should rust that easy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DRC17 Best splitter for the price
Have been splitting & cutting for over 30 years had a very good splitter for about 30 yrs, but this Cub Cadet splits rings around my older one. Had a piece the other day very knotty, oak, could not get it fully split with my old splitter, this Cub Cadet went right through it no problem, even my wife was impressed, best buy I've made in years. May be just a hair more expensive than a few others, but for what it can do well worth the money. I just wish the gas tank was a little larger, but usually when it runs out of gas I'm ready for a break. I also like the gas shut off for when your not using it, or the winter, doesn't let fuel set in the carb.

I have been looking to buy or build a log splitter myself. I looked at several Big Box store brands. I have a Cub Cadet snow blower and never had any issues with that. I bought this the other day and brought it home put gas in it and immediately started splitting wood after the 2nd pull. Great machine and had no problems at all. Excellent.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scooter Beats anything Lowes has. Home depot delivers to your home FREE and has an additonal one year warranty (3)
The Cub Cadet has the Honda engine, just as the one Lowes has, It is very easy to use as all the expensive ones out there. The whole carriage and frame is very well built with thick metal parts. I have been splitting wood for years and I just got through splitting some logs that were 26 inches thick (white and red oak) and 32 inches round and this splitter, the 25 ton cub cadet, had no problems with doing the job. The added bonus is that Lowes charges and extra $65 to deliver to your house where as Home Depot charges $00.00. It came crated but was very easy to assemble with no problems what so ever. And and ther BIG bonus is that NO ONE BUT HOME DEPOT carrys a three year warranty on ALL their splitters where as Northern Tool only carrys a one year and Lowes only carrys a two year. So there ya go, very easy to make up your mind as to who to buy from!!!!! Home Depot EVERY TIME !!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kabatc Haven't found a log it won't split
This splitter was purchased by me in Atlanta and used there to split 10 cords of red oak and sweet gum. I now live at 7700' in CO and the engine and splitter work just as well up here. Knot filled logs that don't split are simply sheared through. Absolutely no complaints.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 69Oaksplitter Wasn't sure this was going to be large enough! I was wrong!!
I was back and forth which manufacture to select as well as splitting tons, I was really going to go with the Ariens 27 ton but finally decided that the tie breaker was going to be the Honda 160cc engine! I have only owned this splitter for a week and have already cut and split 6 cord of wood. My biggest concern is that I have oak wilt and some of the trees I had to split are 30-36". This splitter handles those amazingly but on some of the more twisted pieces i stop and re-position the wood. THE ONLY KNOCK IS THE SMALL GAS TANK! 1/2 gallon capacity. Not a big deal, have a gas can sitting there and back to work. The vertical feature is an absolute MUST! Thank you I love it!!!!! Oh, almost forgot, the safety chains are a little short to tow with an F150, had to move to the front assemble bolt.

Should have gotten this along time ago. Best money spent to help with the harvesting of fire wood.

I got this splitter on a friday. had it completely assembled in about 45 minutes. assembly was very easy. used it to split some 2yr old seasoned oak, both white oak and some tougher than nails scrub oak. this splitter split every thing beautifully. went right though the toughest knots and barely slowed down. highly recommend this unit . engine started on the first pull. tows easily behind the truck and the 4-wheeler. makes me wonder why I did without one for so long!
