I recently purchased the 3X 26" snowthrower and have been very impressed with the reliability and power of this product. Certainly doesn't bog down when pushing through a mound of snow and starts reliably every time. However, I'm very disappointed in the 4-way / multi-directional pitch control chute. It never stays in the direction or angle you point it and tends to stray due to the pressure of snow being discharged through the chute. You can tighten down the overlarge wing nut to get it to stay, but then you can't change the angle unless you loosen again. I had read about this being a concern prior to my purchase and now I can see what they mean.

I bought this snow blower in November of 2014 so I've used it for one season. This is a great machine. I only have one minor complaint and that is that the chute always goes to the highest height because of the force of the snow. Other than that, I have no complaints. The controls were easy to get use to and the grip warmers are great. I made a path through my yard the other day so I could get to my shed to check on my Cub Cadet LTX 1050 riding mower that I bought new last spring. I only gave this blower a good rating like anything else I rate because I always believe there is room for improvement.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Norm This snow thrower is awesome!
This is my first "big" snow thrower and what an amazing machine! My old one was a competitors single stage thrower that worked pretty good but I needed a larger thrower that had a better drive system. Being in my mid 60's with a bum knee this 3 stage thrower was the perfect choice. We live on a small cul-de-sac and when the city plows it gets quite messy at the end of the driveway and in front of the mail box. This machine just ate up the "plow slop" like nothing! Performed excellently on the driveway and other areas. Definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for a snow thrower..

I used to plow our drive with a garden tractor however, the tractor and I are getting older and it would take a couple of hours and a sore back after a heavy snow. We needed something different, So my wife (5'0" and 98 lbs) and I decided to invest in a snow blower that we both can use. We agreed on purchasing a 26" 3x stage design from Cub Cadet with power steering. We found that this machine is just what we needed and works well for us.
First, we have snow that blows from off our roof and drifts in front of our garage and becomes deep. Also, the snow at the end of our drive drifts with the combination of the packed snow from the plow truck. We have found that this machine with this three stage design, gobbles the hard pack up and drifts without a problem. The linear auger in the front helps hold itself down and pull itself and snow into and out of the chute. This makes it simple for us both because all we need to do is steer and adjust our speed and chute position if needed. I agree at times that the directional chute is cumbersome and would benefit from a design upgrade. However, if you understand the design that is now present with this machine you would position it so as it locks itself into place with engaging the gearing using and releasing the trigger control as the manual suggest. Also it helps to make sure that the alignment for the handle is correct as noted in assembly in the manual to mesh gearing. Once you see how far and how much snow this thing will throw you forget all that, do not let any talk of the chute determine your decision on this machine (they are universal anyway M.T.D.).
So we find that we have a powerful enough machine with the 357cc power house to move snow and retire the garden tractor from winter duties. My wife can steer and manage this machine from every facet of operation from start to finish. I feel the best thing is what used to take hours is now factored in minutes and no sore back. The only thing we would do different is buy a bigger one based on easy start and use, all around all good machine...

I purchased the three-stage 26" model late last year and have had two opportunities to use it as of mid-January 2015 with 5" of snow both times. Easy to start from cold both with the electric starter and the manual pulley method (only two pulls got her started). The controls are easy to get the hang of and the power is all there. With the thrower nozzle fully elevated it throws the snow a good 12 -15 feet. It clears our 100' driveway in about 8 minutes flat. Totally awesome machine - glad I chose this Cub Cadet.

Great snow thrower went through the plow bank at the end of my driveway like it was nothing. Even in top gear. The more snow that goes in the farther it throws it. Love the steering although takes time to get use to using it. Hand Warner's are great but doesn't seem like the right handle is getting as warm as the left. Wish reverse had a higher / faster gear but I get the safety issues of being to fast in reverse.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Prof Good snow thrower - a few surprises
I purchased this snow blower to supplement the arsenal of weapons I need to battle the sometimes brutal upstate NY blizzards. I found the design of this machine and the engine and controls to be identical to my 4 year old Craftsman. The only significant difference - the 3 stage impeller system - works as advertised. But, like my Craftsman, I find it difficult to operate the chute control yoke. Maybe my 70 year old hands are a bit too weak - but I think it ought to require less strength to rotate the chute. Also, I was surprised that a power cord for the electric starter was not included - nor were the "drift buster" extensions I also got with the Craftsman. It seems to me that for the relative high cost of this machine those accessories should have been included.

The cub cadet snowblower performed very well. The power steering was the clincher because my old snowblower was very hard to turn around when doing sidewalks in heavy snow. I love it and would recommend it to my friends.
