Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it almost as much as hubby does! After 3 ft. of snow in a week and more on the way, hubby's shoulder and back weren't holding up well. My back gives out faster than his so something had to be done. He squeaked at the idea of buying something he could do with a shovel and a blade on the front of a tractor. Of course that method only resulted in grumbling from me about the damage to the yard (we only need a path big enough for one car down the driveway guys!). So I had to use my muscle. "You can go shopping with me or I'll go by myself. Your choice. He went, we bought, I conquered. This toy, I mean tool, even makes a path in the yard for the puppies and leaves the grass where it belongs. Only thing I had difficulty with was changing the chute direction without stopping but maybe I just need more practice. Concrete is a piece of cake. Raise it a notch and do the gravel drive without starting Spring with gravel all over my front yard. LOVE IT! April 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great snow thrower if you need track drive. I have used it for three snowfalls now. two 4 inchers, and this last one was 7.25. has performed great! December 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Like a tank After a few snow storms I can say the 728 TDE has been a great purchase. We've had several snow conditions in the Twin Cities this year already. So far there hasn't been anything that I've seen that this blower hasn't been able to handle. There are some snow conditions that require it to run at a slower speed, but most conditions are fine at full speed. Light fluffy snow is no problem for the 728 TDE. I was able to go at full speed through about 4 to 6 inches of light fluffy snow and it seemed like it could have taken it even faster. The snow was thrown about 30 or so feet. It was far enough that I could easily shoot the snow over areas that I'd cleared without getting snow on them. I've taken the 728 TDE through my front yard to clear some runs for the dog. It has no trouble traveling over grass and the auger doesn't seem to have trouble with the uneven surface--little to no dirt got thrown. In about 2 inches of heavy wet snow, it didn't get thrown as far. It went about 5 to 10 feet. I had to operate the blower at a slower speed. There's a balance between speed and throughput. The faster I went in this condition, the shorter the throw distance. I went at about 3 or so on the 6 speed options. I've had a couple opportunities to clean up the scrapings from the city plow at the end of the driveway. I was able to literally attack the packed snow by taking full swatches parallel to the street. It had no trouble chewing through it and getting it out of the way. The last type of snow I dealt with was the snow on our street that the plows didn't deal with in sub zero weather. It was so cold that the plows weren't leaving salt. The snow was heavy, dirty and thick. This was the most challenging snow I've dealt with with the 728 TDE. I had to go at a low speed. It did a great job scraping the snow off the road and the treads gave great traction up a 30 to 40 degree icy slope. The throw distance wasn't great. I attribute that to me trying to go too fast. The thing that sold me on this blower were the treads. I love the idea of using tank treads instead of pneumatic tires. The unit we replaced had tires that struggled to hold air and didn't do a good job with traction. The treads provide excellent traction and a nice stable platform to walk behind.. Turning is not difficult at all under power. At the end of each pass it will turn perfectly in position to hit the next one. The downside of treads instead of tires is minimal. Moving the blower around when it isn't under power is maybe a little trickier, but it isn't bad. There are a lot of nice details incorporated with the 728TDE. Things I like are the shear pin holders, the clearing tool and its holder, the heated hand grips and the single hand chute control. Those features are all well thought out. This unit has served us well for the first 4 weeks. I look forward to continuing to use it. December 10, 2013
